Have you disassembled any game consoles?
I personally have taken apart the following:
PS4 - fix (see below)
PS3 - fix ylod
PS2 - fix disc drive, fix open/close button
Xbox 360 - fix rrod, install RGH
Xbox - mod or swap disc drives
Comment what you have cracked open and why you did it.
The PS4 was I weird situation, my dad bought a new PS4 and out of the box it wouldn't work, all it did was turn on flash a blue light and turn off. He threw the receipt away and Fred Meyer would not return it so I took it apart, cleaned the heat sinks and put new thermal paste on it and put it all back together hoping that was the problem. It's ran great ever since.

I'm not good with technology so no
-
If I did I could never fix it, so no.
-
I had to take apart a WiiU gamepad so I could replace the thumbsticks and sell it.
-
I haven't messed with one but i do own a PS1 that is chipped and plays copied games.

Edited by Reign of Bane: 7/29/2015 12:10:07 AMYes but not ones on your list. Megadrive (UK) converted it to play Japanese games. Took of the top half and filed down inside where you insert the games.
Yes I know there were converters but where's the fun in that?
N64, PS1 and Dreamcast- because I was curious.

Xbox360 to fix the disc drive, ps3 for ylod, and game cube because I was curious
-
I tried to disassemble my toaster(still plugged in) YEOW! I don't take things apart anymore.
-
Cracked open an Xbox and 360 to clean the lense and fix the disk drawer.
-
Had an arcade 360 and rebuilt it to perform like a slim.
-
NES - to clean out pins SNES - to clean it out and to get rid of the piss yellow coloring N64/PS/PS2/Xbox - curiosity X360 - RRoD I also disassembled my old Gameboy.

Edited by burritosenior: 7/28/2015 7:58:39 PMI took apart my 360 because it stopped reading disks. Had no idea what I was doing. I cleaned the inside and it read disks fine, but apparently I broke the disk drive so I had to push and pull it open by hand instead of the button. Never building my own desktop hah.

Psp fix
-
Only my 360 slim. It didn't read any disks, l tried every solution. So now I can only play downloaded games.
-
I've disassembled a Dreamcast to fix the random reset issue. Also took apart a friend's 360 to apply new thermal paste, which resolved the problem he was having.
-
I gave my Xbox 360 (Original White One) a Viking Funeral..
A pack of bobcats did the trick.
-
PCs, a PSP, Sega genesis, multiple game cartridges, some other stuff just to clean them really.
-
Nope, because I know that if it gets taken apart, it's never being put back together.

Edited by Pahvi: 7/28/2015 7:26:35 PMps3 (ylod fixes) , xbox (hd swap) & x360 (rrod fixes)
-
I've taken apart about 30+ PCs of that counts
-
Two PCs and new parts to make a new one PSP go to turn it off and fix some buttons 360 power supply to try to fix the motor, also a few controls that needed some things done
-
Absolutely. I've disassembled my NES to clip the pin on the region lock chip, I've disassembled my genesis to pull out what appeared to be 3 cats worth of fur inside of it, I've disassembled my Dreamcast to fix the bent power supply reset problem, I've disassembled my Saturn to plan modchip placement, likewise with my PSX, and I've disassembled my PS2 to softmod it. It's not particularly daunting just to disassemble them.

My ps3 red lighted but the disc was stuck in there...
so we fvcked it up with a screwdriver and a hammer bby!
-
Does an old PC count?
-
PS3. Console was overheating so we opened it up to replace the thermal paste.

Bump for comments

I helped my dad take apart my first 360 a few months back. It was dead for a while by that point, but fortunately we managed to find some parts that he could use for some of his computers.
