Ok. Here we go. Level 1-20 is a breeze, just finish the story and you'll be there. Make sure to do bounties to quickly level up your character. TIP: if you level up on sub class to the max (eg: gunslinger), finish bounties, but just before you hand them in switch to the other subclass. This should get both levelled up fairly quickly. After you reach level 20 the entire game has changed. You no longer level up with xp, but level up with "light". Each piece of armour had light, the more light a piece of armour had the higher your level goes up. Once you reach 20 it's quite hard to find a few pieces of good armour. My tips are: do strikes or the crucible (whichever you prefer), as this will level up the vanguard or crucible rep. Hopefully a few pieces of armour will drop along the way, but continue to save vanguard and crucible marks (currency you get by playing strikes or the crucible respectively) until you can buy a good piece of armour the guardian outfitters sell. Also try to do the weekly strike as much possible. The weekly awards you with strange coins which you can use to buy exotic weapons and armour for xur ( he only appears on weekends) Once you get to lvl 28 try the vault of glass. The vault is the first raid you will experience and is definitely the highlight of destiny. It's a 6 player awesome mission that rewards you with epic gear. After doing that, continue to the next raid and the prison of elders. TL;DR: do bounties, grind strikes to get marks, always do weekly to buy exotics.
