From the first time Bungie started describing Destiny, it has been a cross genre hybrid. I understand that technically it is not a MMO, but it has MMO bits and pieces. And in MMOs, chasing the carrot is a common theme. Since my MMO experience comes from first playing DAoC, and then WoW, I have come to enjoy chasing the carrot. You spend many hours of dedicated time attempting to obtain the gear you need to complete the endgame activities. Then the game gets patched or a new expansion comes out and more or less makes your gear obsolete. You then have a choice, rage quit, or take a few breathes and start chasing whatever the new carrots are. At first I was disappointed with the weapon rebalancing, but Deej's comment, "who wants to play with the same guns for 10 years, " made sense. Being forced into new weapon, class, and or gear setups can be unsettling. But true gamers can and will adapt to whatever new meta is placed before us. I love Destiny, but since collecting almost all of the exotics available on Xbox (minus the elder ciphers which seem to elude me,) Destiny has become stale and less engaging. So now Bungie will be changing the carrot and I'm ready to start chasing the new gear and guns. I just hope others can let their perceived betrayal by Bungie fall to the ground and with me and the others in a wild chase of whatever carrot Bungie will offer with TTK and beyond!
