Buffing and nerfing weapons

Dear God why!?! Why Bungie would you take your prized weapons and nerf them (Thorn, Last Word, Black Hammer, Gjallarhorn, and Ice Breaker). It's like having a Porsche and taking off several horses to make it more balanced to a Toyota! But that's my feelings what are yours?

  • The G-horn would define who could join, Black Hammer is like an exotic, Thorn was a major hate point and Last Word was heavily glitch.

  • Bungie stop nerfing the exotics so that it makes pvp more equal. Like the thorn. It took some forever for them to get the void kills so let it be a reward instead of something to get beasted up by an ill will. Or the ice breaker, it regenerates slow already so If you were going to nerf the regeneration speed then make a larger magazine. Now the black hammer is a different story that was one of the best legendary snipers in the game. Now it's nothing. At least make it an exotic and give it some better stats or something. Lastly the gjallahorn, don't nerf it because once again it's an exotic rocket launcher it's supposed to be over powered.

    • Because the thorn is op and it needs to be balanced. You know that not everyone wants to use the same gun, but they are forced to.

    • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Okay, let me just start off with something Datto said which makes perfect sense: "You can be angry about these changes, but understanding why they did them makes you a better player." Obviously you don't understand them so lets teach you. I think Thorn is obvious. Thorn has something like 68 Impact in total and Hawkmoon has something like 80-90 Impact. Let me ask you something. Isn't more Impact supposed to equate to hitting harder each bullet? Yes, it is! While Hawkmoon hits 94 to the head normally and Thorn hits 84, Thorn has the added poison to the mix. 7 damage each second no matter the armor stat is ridiculous, and Thorn was a guaranteed 2 shot headshot kill under any normal circumstances. Hawkmoon can't get a 2 shot kill unless RNG is involved, which happens very little. So why is a hand cannon with basically 20-30 less Impact than another hand cannon able to 2 shot more effectively than that of the other hand cannon which has 20-30 more Impact? Makes zero sense. With this change, they're reducing the DOT to 1/3 of it's original damage, stacking up to 5x. This way, Thorn is always a 3 shot kill under normal circumstances, and if you want, you can stack the dot up to 5x, but then by that point you'd already killed them. So, effectively, it puts Thorn in the spot it was originally supposed to be in. Last Word. Last Words main bonus was bugged out of it's mind. Being able to aim down sights for the main perk bonus damage when it's supposed to only proc on hip-fire. Remember the 111 damage headshots that you get when ADS? That's only supposed to happen for hip-fire. No argument there, nerf. Now that they can tune range stat individually and make it an actual thing, it solidifies the role of LW even more. LW was originally supposed to be THE close range 1v1 weapon. But what it is right now is THE close-long range 1v6 weapon with zero damage drop off. If you don't see thew problem with that at all then idk what to tell you. Lower range and with the upcoming patch the range nerf will solidify the weapon's role. The stability nerf was something needed as well as hand cannons aren't made to be perfectly stable. LW being able to be perfectly stable like that (similar to Thorn) is not healthy game play. Black Hammer. You know, I actually didn't understand the reason behind this weapon's nerfs at all, I thought they were unfounded and stupid until I really thought about the change and why it's necessary to maintain game balance and interesting experiences. Ice Breaker is in the same boat as Black Hammer so I'll include that in this as well. Looking at BH from an objective stand point, it's a completely over powered weapon. Infinite ammo if you hit 3 head shots in a row (which isn't hard to do given the fact that the precision mag bonus timer lasts half a life time) makes this weapon better than IB in nearly every way, it might as well be an exotic. In fact, if Bungie didn't want to nerf this gun cuz they really liked it, I wouldn't be surprised if they just changed this gun from being a legendary to being an exotic to make it have that trade-off at least. Black Hammer changes reduce the amount of time that you can just stand back and burn an entire boss in the back of a room with no consequences. That's not fun to do by any stretch of the imagination. The point of a boss fight is to have fun and learn the fight while doing it, not sit in the back of a room shooting it endlessly the entire time while taking no damage because you're behind some cheese wall (this goes for Ice Breaker too). Making it so that getting that precision mag bonus takes it out of your reserve at least puts you in a spot where you'll eventually have to get ammo and run around a bit. It's not a permanent change since you'll still be sitting in the back of the room doing nothing, but at least you now have this small trade-off. Ice Breaker is the same way, shooting in the back of the room, run out of ammo, wait in the back shooting adds with a scout rifle here and there for 30 seconds, shoot 6 more rounds, rinse and repeat. You can still do that, but you just have to wait 48 seconds instead of 30 seconds. Wow. That's actually kind of a pathetic change. it just means you're going to be shooting adds with a scout rifle for 18 seconds longer. Big deal. Ahh Gjallarhorn. I've always known this was going to get nerfed. But here we are, the shit has hit the fan and every fanboy is angry and sad your wolfpack rounds are getting nerfed. By how much? Hopefully enough to stop you from utter desolating every boss within seconds of the encounters starting. Gjallarhorn's main perk allows you to get 4-5 rockets worth of damage in one rocket at any given time. If you think that's fair you are sorely mistaken. That is over powered. Imagine if there was a hand cannon that only a certain amount of people in the game had where you could shoot one bullet and it'd have the strength of 9 Thorn head shots all in one bullet in PVP. Would you think that's fair? Probably not. It's the same thing for Gjallarhorn in PVE. It completely and hilariously outclasses every single rocket launcher to the point where every loadout for a raid is as such: FB/VoC, any shotgun, and Gjallarhorn. Bungie's nerfs are trying to reduce the damage that it deals to make sure boss encounters last more than 6 seconds on the battlefield and to make sure there are other good options to use in PVE encounters, lowering the damage of wolf pack rounds makes it so you can no longer get 4-5 rockets worth of damage in one rocket, but rather more like 2-3 is a good change. It's still super OP, but not nearly as much. It's made to create variety to the world of Destiny. Every weapon will still be awesome and great, but fixes are in order to make sure that you dont just buff everything and have everything 1 shot people or kill people in .2 seconds. That's not the type of crucible world or PVE world I want, nor that a lot of people want. You have to understand from a balance stand point that these changes are supposed to make things more fair, interesting, and better for you and others around you. As a final note, let me just say: -blam!- Final Round users.

      • I'm angry that they are going to ruin Thorns exotic perk and people are still whining to nerf it to dust. The other weapons where fine as is and now they are going to change those greatly.
