Since Bungie listens to people who whine... Poll for optional matchmaking!

Add optional matchmaking for all PVE content.

802

Leave things as they are. It would break the game.

181

And... I don't care, will not affect me.

211

If whiners get noticed... and catered to... count this as the start of my whining. I want the "option" of matchmaking for all PVE content.

I mean this as sincerely as I possibly can... I work a lot. But when I play, I just get randoms off lfg anyway (some of the best people I have met are from lfg!) What is the difference? Seriously... it just eliminates a large pointless step... And this is the best secret sauce part... It. Is. Optional! Optional by definition means you can choose not to partake! Tada!

https://www.bungie.net/pubassets/41117/pvp_stats.jpg ^^ This is why guns get nerfed. Gun usage rates. Not because of whiners. It's been that way since 1.1.1. I'm all for optional matchmaking though.

    • They go by statistics a lot more than people seem to realize. People just blame whiners.

    • "Optional" is the key word here. No one can have valid complaint about optional matchmaking

      • If people want to deal with trolls and severely under-leveled/under-equipped players, that's fine by me. So I do think it should be in the game. As for myself, I'll stick to not being lazy and making my own groups from the gigantic pool of players that these forums, reddit, and destinylfg provide for me, this way I never have to complain about matchmaking

        • I think the better idea here would be to structure the game to work as a true MMO where you don't need to worry about creating teams and things before hand as you can rely on the fact that you'll run into a couple people in the environment. This would allow you to form your fireteams as you see fit but allow you to meet up with help beyond that as well. The only complaint I see coming from this situation would be if someone walked into a boss fight didn't even shoot him and got a reward, but being as that is the same as the strike system we've put up with for the whole year I don't really see that as a problem. I naturally play more as a lone wolf, this would allow people like me who find dealing with finding teams and stuff as troublesome to participate in the end game content 'on their own' but have the backup necessary to pull it off. Even though I'm more comfortable as a lone wolf I have branched out and teamed up with an awesome band of misfits, and I can say that we've gone out of our way to carry people through raids and stuff already so about the only reaction we'd have to someone showing up at the end of a boss fight and being rewarded would be rolling our eyes and maybe a you're -blam!-ing kidding me if they got something we needed. But we wouldn't rage about it. If it's that big of a deal, bungie already has a setup where if you don't put fire into something you can't get a reward (ether chests) so that problem could be solved as well. (Though I disagree with this as there has been multiple times where I wasn't able to open the chest even after attacking the kill target. I'd rather let the randoms have a free reward than someone who earned it go without one.

        • I tried a post like this before. The elitists shat on me with their "make friends on LFG" crap. I don't understand why it's not ok to some ppl that others just want to jump in and enjoy the great gameplay instead of being forced to friend strangers through a manual -blam!-ing matchmaking process through a -blam!-ing third party. At least to the LFG in game for -blam!- sake.

          • The current automated matchmaking is designed to quickly pair players over all else, making it ideal for easier content. The same system is woefully inadequate for raids or other endgame content, simply because it lacks the features to pair players in a way to ensure success.

              • A big advantage to matchmaking rather than lfg is there would be no "Thanks for helping us get to the end so we could kick you and have our friend join!"

              • Croats end or Vog with matchmaking could be a nightmare, it only takes one person to make a run impossible.

                • Most of the people that would use the match making are people who don't have their usual group online, or people that have no group in the first place. Ergo, most people would be doing the raid for the first few times.

                • Im ok with that option.. Don't you remember how few people used mics in H2, H3, cod4-mw3 and even reach... it was not a game breakers.. if people play the right role.. it should be ok.

                • Shouldn't even need to whine or start polls, should be in the game from the start. Those that don't want it don't need to use it and it's not harming them. Others get the opportunity to experience and attempt things they couldn't before.

                  • I wouldn't use it if it's implemented as the existing matchmaking is. I like LFG because I can pick who I play with. I also like the ability to matchmake at a checkpoint level which I doubt Bungie would implement.

Honestly, the weapon tuning probably would've happened even if we didn't want it. Bungie had to do something to get us to use the new weapons in TTK.
DeeJ would probably enjoy matchmaking too because it seems he's having some trouble playing the game he represents
• Since matchmaking exist in the game already, and every work around is essentially just matchmaking of the game, wouldn't it be faster and more reliable than LFG and others .....honestly playing with real friends is great, but if not, making online only friends is hit and miss, and just as unreliable. I went through 2 dozen online friends that no longer play, or went next gen, I gave it a shot to get into raiding/nightfall parties and had fun raiding for a while, but friends and people move on, I would still like to raid but don't won't have to go through all of that hassle over and over. I understand people with experience expect others to know what to do, so....I dunno, maybe require a raid clear to unlock matchmaking for that given difficulty. Or have an option to join a raid party or create a matchmade party, with selectable options to be met by joiners, like level minimum, previous completions and mic required.
