Why thou nerf art Gjallarhorn?

By now you've probably read about changes coming with Weapon Tuning 2.0. If you've read about them, there was probably at least one change in there that pissed you off. In general I understand what Bungie is trying to do, but I think they are going about it in the wrong way. In short, why touch Gjallarhorn? Is Gjallarhorn OP? Without question, but is that a bad thing? There is a reason that there are countless YouTube videos of grown men acting like children upon receiving a Gjallarhorn drop. There is a reason that non-Destiny gamers have no clue what the Traveler is, but they sure as hell have heard of the Gjallarhorn (and then when you show them a picture of it, they think it looks badass). Both in form and function, the Gjallahorn is incredible, and you would be hard pressed to find a gun in any FPS that bests it. It is the most iconic thing in all of Destiny. Why do anything to screw with that? (I seriously doubt Bethesda is currently entertaining ideas on how to nerf the BFG) Furthermore, with as OP as Gjallarhorn is, it's not like it makes all parts of the game easy. Is Bungie receiving countless complaints around how easy Skolas is in PoE 35? For some reason, I doubt that is happening. All that said, if Bungie still feels a need to incentivize using other heavy weapons, I'm okay with that. Like I said, I understand the theory, but the execution is all off. Why nerf and buff, and not simply buff? Let me give you a few examples... (I'm not saying these are perfect ideas, but I think you'll get the point) 1. Truth - Already one of the better rocket launchers, so don't do much, but add a perk where if you have Truth and heavy boots equipped, a heavy brick gives you 3 rockets instead of 2. And up the magazine size to 9 so you have 3 full rounds of Tripod. 2. Dragon's Breath - Absolute garbage, so change it a lot. Give it tracking and double the time the Pyromancer Solar Flare is active. Or change the perk and have the rocket explode twice (kind of like the Titan's Magnetic Grenade) 3.) Add an Arc rocket launcher, and make it a beast. Why not go about weapon tuning this way? Destiny is known for having an awesome weapon collection. I don't see how you make the weapon collection better by nerfing the game's best guns. Why not instead just make more guns that are beastly?

  • I don't have a gjally but I'm am completely against the nerf because the logic is terrible. Here's my point if the people who complain about a weapon being to powerful are bad at this game or if they are not good with let's say the thorn or the last word and then bungie nerfs these particular guns and then said complainers play the game and are still not good what was solved? absolutely nothing except to piss off the people who have grinded to get these weapons. So all it does is punish the good players and then does nothing to elevate the bad players so everyone loses. Currently there is an even playing field and after the nerf it will still be a level playing field so nothing has been gained but god forbid we introduce logic into this. Signed someone who doesn't have a gjally but if I ever get 1 would prefer that it isn't ruined.
