With my first crota hard completion under my belt, my road to the completed triumphs has two roadblocks - the golden chests, and skolas.
I need advice. What's the best class for a noob to take on skolas? I've gotten to him plenty of times. Just never had time to go after him. Now I do. Mostly.
And second problem - is anyone able to help me out? I'm fairly experienced at the game (mostly vog) I just need some help with skolas. I'm on PS3/4 but for now I have no ps+ so I'm just on PS3.
My name is Mecromancer78 if anyone wants to help me out.

I'm on PS3, add me. My clan does Skolas and Trials every weekend.

Plenty of people have laid the mechanics out for you, so heres some general tips... - Bring a good Arc Shotty so you can nail anything that jumps up on the right side of the platform you'll mostly be fighting from - Try to have one of each class: A Hunter for the mines, a Sunsinger to give you wiggle room with the poison during mines, and a Titan for bubble related breathing space when things get hectic with adds. - Pass the poison this way: Hunter --> Titan --> Warlock. That way, when it comes to mines, the warlock can take it last and just die with it, rezzing if the Titan needs support or goes down. This pretty much nullifies the pressure from the poison.

1) Go to the left side of the arena and kill the Servitor 2) Once the bonds are weakened, DPS boss 3) You won't be able to break his bonds, so run to the other side and kill that Servutor 4) Once that one is dead, DPS boss again and you should be able (maybe) to break his bonds 5) Once bonds are broken, Skolas will taint a guardians light 6) Example: you get tainted. Once the timer at the bottom left says 5-6 seconds, tell one of your mates to take it. 7) Keep doing that and keep damaging Skolas and killing adds 8) Evey quarter of his health, you have to dismantle mines. 9) Keep damaging and keep playing hot potato with the taint

Fatebringer/Voc (boss fight) Arc pump Ghorn Get ready to run like hell ! Good luck

I agree with Tosevite's comment about killing adds first; this is the most important thing. If you see any adds at all, ignore Skolas until they are cleared. Even at the start. Makes things a lot easier. And at least a couple of you should have arc shotguns for the captains.

Edited by albeezy: 7/14/2015 10:27:38 PMI can help you on ps3. I'll probably be on later tonight and ill message you. Can you get you're Titan to 34? That would help but not a deal breaker

I would say, in my humble opinion, Sunsinger is going to be the best class for a noob to take on Skolas. It's just so nice because if you mess it up, the super lets you revive instantly if your teammates can't handle it with you dead. The first and only time I ran Skolas we had two Sunsingers and a Hunter which made it really easy to revive each other when needed, and the hunter was able to handle the mines for us. The two Sunsingers supers saved our behinds I don't know how many times.

If u are on 360 msg me. I can carry u threw it

Titan Master Race. You need Helm of Saint 14 with Defender Class.
-
Always stick together never go through the middle of the map unless absolutely necessary. When mines come up, if you're comfortable, have the person who is immune to the sickness go to it
-
Two defenders and a bladedancer worked pretty well for us. A self rez warlock would be good but doesn't really help the team as much
-
Now that there isn't a burn, definitely res warlock or bladedancer hunter. What my team does is kill all the mobs, th en focus on skolas because more won't spawn until he has been damaged. Sercitor part can be taken slow, but once devouring essence appears you need either an experienced team or skilled warlocks to manage. Bladedancer hunters are invaluable in the two sets of dismantle mines, so pick either that you would prefer. The group I run is two bladedancers and a res warlock and we usually get it on first or second try.

I'll add you
-
I would say titan or hunter. Titan being the most survivable class with panic bubbles. Hunters the most valuable for getting mines. But warlocks are just as good now aswell since the adds dont continually spawn and you can die with the poison and self ressurect if your team is out of reach. They all have their strengths.

Run in circle, shot from time to time and hold X from time to time. Done.
