[i]PLEASE NOTE- (June 11)- this is an OLD POST. Like, 8 weeks old. So, keep in mind that below is my excited younger self, writing to you from the past. With that caveat:[/i] [b]I SOLOED THE ABYSS THIS WEEK FOR THE FIRST TIME!![/b] Yesterday I did it on Normal, just to make sure I knew the route and work on my moves a little. It was touch and go for a moment with the Ogre, but Black Hammer took care of him and I got my shards. Even had a friend drop in to share the moment of triumph. Today it was time for Hard Mode, which forced me to refine my strategy even further if I wanted to survive. No doubt all of you who run the lamps have known the tricks I discovered today for months, but the point was that I wanted to discover them for myself. As a Level 31 without enough energies to fully level my Hammer or Hunger of Crota, I was unable to take the Ogre head-on. I ended up finding a spot where I hid both from him and from the ravening hordes of Crota's spawn until the bridge was complete, but this time I didn't dare take a moment to invite anyone to join the fireteam and get rewards, for fear that I would A) get swarmed at any moment and be killed, thus disappointing anyone who did join me, or B) fall at the last gate and be ambushed by the thralls on the bridge itself. In fact, until I repeat the method a few times, I won't be sure if the hiding spot actually works, or was a one-off stroke of luck and/or timing. But for today, it worked, and I made it into the light, where I found a second Oversoul Edict awaiting me, so that all my characters can be equipped with an elemental damage primary. So I am very happy with the morning's work, and also have bridge checkpoints to start on tomorrow if my friends want to go. Along with a host of congratulation messages from my clan! EDIT: And as I anticipated, the replies here so far are basically 50% congratulations and 50% "So what, you wuss?" Thanks, forum. EDIT 2: In fairness, there was only 1 negative comment, I posted that way too early. Since then I have been flattered and embarrassed by the compliments. I mean it this time; Thanks, Forum. You're the best. EDIT 3: May 31: This post keeps returning from the dead, with new people congratulating me! It's actually been 1 and 1/2 months now and I've effectively soloed again with my Hunter, now level 32. This time I was with a raid group and I was the last standing, so it fell to me to finish the Abyss for all of us. It was even more exhilarating with my friends cheering me on!
