Is Prison of Elders boring and useless?
I'm someone who gets on Destiny and plays almost every day, I've put plenty of time into Destiny, I love playing the strikes and raids, they have a lot of replayability, but PoE is simply not needed. To start, the rewards are absolute crap. A shitty queens weapon, some motes of light, possibly a strange coin, and a shitty weapon from Variks? Come on. And Prison of Elders itself is so boring and repetitive. I still have so much fun with Crota and VOG 7+ months after they came out, but I haven't even played PoE for over 3 weeks because it's boring and the rewards don't even make the grind worth it.

7 RepliesYeah it sucks. And for all those who thought a horde mode would "never get boring or repetitive" or was "needed to break the monotony" how stupid do you feel now? Horde mode is lazy and uninspired and the single most repetitive thing in the game. Don't even get me started on the "rewards".

2 RepliesI was hoping it would have been more like Gears of War Horde Mode but no. It is so generic and bland it makes me wonder why I spent so long grinding for keys. Got 3 exotics in the first 3 keys and ever since I haven't seen any drop for anyone so I've come to the conclusion that it isn't worth running.

I don't care for Poe. Didn't play it once this last week or the week before. I usually like horde modes but I don't find Poe fun or entertaining at all. I love VOG, but don't play it much cause I personally don't like this whole playing things over and over again. Osiris and nightfalls are pretty much all I come back to destiny for. I definitely don't care for Crota raid. Not as fun as vog for sure.

I haven't ran PoE in 3-4 weeks? After I got the exotics from the Cipher I was pretty much done.

Etheric light and the elder cipher are the only useful things you get from it.

One of the bosses is even a [i]literal[/i] time consumer(Qodron).

If time permits, only do 32 / 34 for armour core and EL...and that's it. If time does not permit, not bothered and couldn't care less.

PoE is fine the only problem I have with it it's time consuming and the rewards are not worth it. They can fix it by making the chest at Lv35 have equivalent rewards as the flawless ToO chest and you'll see a lot of players coming back to it. That's my take on it.

What they need to do with it, is have skolas have a garentied elemental drop. Primarys from judgments chance be a garentied elemental weapon. Then, take the fallen themed perk. Place it in a area like the oracle and hive disrupter perk and give us a garenteed third ability. So they arnt useless for the rest of time.

So much wasted opportunity. It's almost laughable. Except it sucks not having decent PVE end game shit. So it's not too close to laughable.

Some people don't even know these weapons exist because they drop so rarely! I've killed Skolas over 15 times and have only gotten 3 (an Arc Scout Rifle, a Solar Scout Rifle, and a Void Hand Cannon). Now, admittedly, I do not like the Scout Rifles, but the Hand Cannon is a lot better than the Word of Crota and has replaced that weapon for me with anything that has Void burn. Considering how long, annoying, and boring the Skolas fight has become since the last patch these weapons drop rate should be 100% - one drop for every player every time Skolas is killed!

1 ReplyPrison of Elders is not just boring and useless, it's not welcoming anyone who has limited time to play and doesn't want to meet weird people on the web. Level 28 is useless, it gives nothing. Levels 32, 34 and 35 don't have matchmaking, and so, while Prison of Elders is extremely boring, it's not even an option for most gamers.

The only true challenge in it is 35. Even that isn't really hard team work and communication. With mechanics that only require run around when objectives come up and shoot when you're safe to...really is a fun fight but it lacks a challenge if you're decently geared.

5 RepliesEdited by Ketogenic_Guardian: 7/6/2015 4:21:16 PMNo it helps people sharpen their skills, get new Gilmore cards and points, easier ways to level up and get etheric light, some people are lucky enough to get gallahorns from the chest. After awhile ranking to rank 3 you get judgement grants and judgement tributes that give u upgraded materials, strange coins, syncs, and some times weapons. Also after awhile doing Poe u can get elder cipher from level 34. So u don't need to beat 35 to get elder cipher. I got my lord of wolves from beating 34 multiple times. These reasons are why Poe isn't a waste. My opinion it helps u to be prepared for ttk and like myself who don't own gelly. I learned how to develop strategies without use of gelly on my whole team. It made me a better player because of it. I mention this because time and time again people said u need gelly for every single thing on destiny including Poe. Learning to develop strategies for every boss like how I did makes me feel proud I prove them wrong in every way

OK I'm not gonna hate on you but I will disagree with your opinion. I for one got super bored with destiny as a whole right when crota hard was released and I left before ever fighting hard mode crota. I came back I think two weeks ago almost to the day. I admit people have different likes and dislikes and I for one like the PoE idea granted more could be done with it . just beat 35 2days ago and looking forward to cashing in my two elder ciphers .

I need the etheric light to level my old gear that looks cool. All the new stuff (armor and guns) look terrible and have useless perks. PoE is repetitive and no fun at all. My friends don't play it, I am forced back to LFG to find people. If there is no matchmaking I will probabaly just give up.
