Destiny doesn't explain anything. At all.

I spend more time googling what the hell is going on and what everything is than I do actually playing. And then half the stuff, like grimoire cards or LFG, are things you can't even do in the game. Way to kill the immersive experience bungie. Why should I care about this game? All I know is I'm a guardian, darkness is bad, shoot everything. I expected more from the developers of the great story that halo was

    • That's because there is no story. They abandoned that to make content starved fractured nerratives.

    • The entire point of a mmo type game at first is to establish a world.. and a setting. The story is in expansions and other games, because the entire point of the base game is to establish a base for future content.

    • "I could tell you of the great battle long ago... I could tell you of the power of the darkness..." Yeah even the Speaker doesn't tell us without looking at boring grimoire cards

I rather have them reboot Destiny, and start off as child that was given the Last Word. From there the child will continue his hero's legacy and fight off the darkness. But while in his journey fending off the darkness; secrets are foretold and the truth shall be revealed what is true reason why the Darkness is attracted to the Traveler, and who is the Traveler itself as well its representative The Speaker What I'm basically saying put the grimoire stories into action. So at least it gives character to the guardians, the enemy races, Rasputin, The Queen, exotics, etc. I just see everything as mere pets and dolls. I can't take the game seriously enough neither I care to. TTK already has a laughable plot "You killed Crota so his Papi is mad" sure I'll go through the Raid with my team, google "Oryx raid cheese", and kill him.
I know I sound like a bum at the end, but it's kinda true how all the finals bosses of raids were treated. I love the game, and if I were to be gifted the TTK I'll play it no issue. The in-game needs to have lore. PLUS *fingers crossed*
• All of this "The story spans 10 years and it unfolds over that span" is just ppl clinging onto hope they could've easily gave a small history lesson (much larger then what we were fed) about what a guardian is and what we were resurrected for in more than a few sentences. They could've made everything up to the Black Garden it's own little unique story a pre-cursor of the stories that await as we delved deeper into the darkness --bam-- end is the intro to TDB (shit story there). But instead they thought Amazing gameplay (and it is) and an endless loot farm was all they needed to keep ppl long enough for the next DLC.

Don't question the light of the Hitler Orb we will follow its will and commit genocide on a galactic scale on all the impure "dark" sentient species for we are the light and even the attempts of 4 separate alien races will not stop our slaughter (honestly destiny makes alot more sense if you assume you are a space N.azi)

      • This game Is still new. Bungies goal for this game as it was before it was released, was to make it an ever-expanding world. I'm confident in a year or so the game will be different from what we play now. You are right though about lack of story...HORRIBLE job setting the groundwork for this massive universe. Everything sort of just "is" and were expected to just go with it. And why the hell is Russia the only place in earth we can access?

        • Believe or not, this isn't some ignorant design flaw. The game plays on your subconscious emotions by not allowing a player a sense of 'resolution' within the game. This in turn, creates a 'drive' in the player to press on across repetitive content, subconsciously seeking this envisioned resolution. Activision/Bungie has placed a considerable amount of behaviour science in Destiny to make it as addictive as humanly possible. Those flashing lights, positive reinforcements, and conditioned responses have extensively tailored to keep the human mind captivated into this game. Activision has wagered 1/2 a billion dollars, over the next 10 years, that this matter of psychological sorcery will keep you drooling on yourself and throwing money at your screen. Yup. Another Dev that has vague generalized garbage for in-game descriptions. I personally luv the perks that say "increases ____blank____", and whatever it says it increases is DECREASING in the stat bar. ROFL I have a dead orbit shotgun that says 6 mag capacity and only allows 5. A rocket launcher that only allows you to carry 4 ammo in reserve while wearing gear that allows more heavy Ammo. A gheleons demise that say 15 mag capacity that only allows 14 rounds. And a vanguard helmet that says gain super energy from non-guardian kills in the description but the perk reads "super energy from minions of the darkness". Pathetic. "All your base are belong to us" right triple A game developer Bungie?

          • As sad as it is, it's actually gotten better (slightly) from what was initially released. TTK is supposed to be better, so we will see if that is any better at story telling.

          • They will finally tell you in year ten, it's like the RNG designed to keep you grinding till the next DLC comes out. Cause of the lack of content and bungie's fear that if you got what you wanted you would quit. Truth is those that quit would quit either way, what your doing is having people quit from sheer frustration.

What's worse is that they've released two "expansions" since the game came out, neither of which do anything to actually answer any questions or EXPAND upon the game world, and are working on a third one that looks like it'll just be adding on more shit for us to wonder about without addressing the current lack of information. It also really pisses me off that it's being called the first MAJOR expansion. Well then why the -blam!- did we pay $40 for the other two?

Bungie doesn't have time to tell us where the so called "$500 Million" budget went. Definitely haven't seen it in Destiny. I've been disappointed so far since this is my 1st Bungie game. I was expecting their strong story element that they're known for. But all I've been doing is shooting this and that with no story in between while being hit by cash cows.

                  • That's why you should quit playing. Lack of content, repetitive grinding, poor server connections, horrible customer support/communication, overpriced reskinned dlc's, etc. Much better games out there and coming soon.
