Warlock Sunsinger Gear

I am new to using a Warlock, up until about a week ago I only used a Hunter. As a Sunsinger what stat boosts should I be looking for in my gear (intellect, discipline, strength) for PVE and for PVP?

One of the best things about Sunsinger is its versatility. There are lots of viable builds. Because Sunsinger is so versatile, the stat balance is going to depend on the exotic you are building around. For instance, if you are running Starfire Protocol, you are going to be focused on Fusion Grenades. To maximize the effectiveness of a Starfire build, you are going to want to stack Discipline. Similarly, if you are running Sunbreakers, again you are grenade-focused, so Discipline is king. On both of these builds, Intellect is in second, followed by Strength. If you are building around Claws of Ahamkara, on the other hand, it is a melee bonus, so Strength is going to be your best bet. I personally never have found Solar Wind or Brimstone to be worthwhile perks. I always keep Flame Shield on. You would be well-advised to do the same. With a Strength-based Claws of Ahamkara build, you can be a pretty formidable tank. Maximize armor and Strength, and you can run around punching everything that moves. It's pretty fun, but melee is generally useless for end-game content. This build is really only going to be viable in PvP and low-level content. It's actually really strong build for PvP. On that note, you are going to want to run Firebolt Grenade, Flame Shield, Radiant Skin, Viking Funeral, and Ignite as perks. You can wreck as a Firebolt/Flame Shield Sunsinger. Heart of the Praxic Fire is an interesting piece of gear to build around. The bonus gives you additional cooldown rates while Radiance is active. Because the bonus is only while Radiance is active, Intellect is going to be the highest priority. You are going to want as much up-time on radiance as possible. If you run Gift of the Sun and stack Discipline, you can actually get your grenade cooldown so low that you will be able to throw grenades faster than the throw animation allows (that is, your grenade will be off cooldown, but your character is still throwing a grenade). Despite the ability to get non-stop grenades, I would still suggest Intellect > Discipline > Strength for a HoTPF build. Light Beyond Nemesis is a support role piece of gear -- faster revive and more orbs created. It doesn't really matter what build you run with this. Whatever you are most effective with is what you should run while wearing LBN. ------ I hope this helps. Also, don't sleep on Voidwalker ;) I'll leave this here for you too (I haven't updated it in a while): https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/98841838/0/0 Edit: I forgot to mention that if you are running Fireborn, Intellect isn't quite as high of a priority. You will be holding on to your super, so the extra super cooldown is less useful.

Ok as a True sunsinger, in average PvP. Don't use self-res. That shit is trash. For sunsinger, put armour and recover high. We don't need agility. Put Radiant skin+Radiant Will. If your gonna solo. If you do i suggest claws of ahamkara for double 1 hit. If your gonna go for the ultimate burn build then. Thorn + Firebolt + Touch of Flame + Viking funeral + Heart of the praxic fire.

    • Discipline is what i try to have the highest of for more grenades. If you are running fireborn and want to save it for a certain situation then i would go for strength next because the flameshield can be very useful

    • Personally, I use highest armor and recovery I can (agility isn't great...meh), balanced control (easier to maneuver, and most people don't look up as often as they should, can drop damage and kill before they know you're there), solar grenade w/ignite (+D.O.T. boost, forgot what it's called), selfres W/purifier robes (gives options, make orbs for team support, or self res near any foe or group and they go into pandemonium 80% of the time, excellent for control zones, salvage, doubles, skirmish). Weapon wise, personally I roll V.O.C. (go to, full auto, high stab, and 27 max clip?!?) The calming (void, speed reload after kills, 6 battery, and 50% range boost while zoomed, got vanilla from FWC), and either Thunderlord (if feeling exotics) or chain of orbiks fel (got from first judgements chance on week 2), all powerhouses. Everyone has they're own setup, but I use this one because its versatile; team support or lone wolf, front lines or back burner, one enemy or 3, blocking off chokepoints (W/ dot solars), or even turning the tide in an objective based pvp game. Try it out, let me know what you think (subclass wise I mean, I know everyone hasn't dialed in weapons yet.)!

    • You want voidfang vestments, you respawn with grenades for sunsinger even though it is a voidwalker chest so it's really good for pvp. Light beyond nemesis is a good exotic if you want to use it as a support class in pve. I like to have high intellect and strength, more supers and your melee can give you a shield later on and that gets you out of trouble often. You don't really need discipline since you get two grenades.

    • Purifier Robes. So when you res, you can get a head start on nearby enemies.
