Does our feedback really matter? (I'm talking to you Bungie)

Just been in one of the countless threads about raid and NF matchmaking and DeeJ responded to it with this:
At current, our philosophy about endgame content is that part of the challenge includes forming up a team. This is a strong community filled with players who are looking for teammates. Why not seek each other out here and band together?
It's a fair statement at first glance but it highlights some key factors in the Bungie development process that are a problem and need to be addressed. It's all well and good saying that you want players to form teams themselves but the community has spoken and you've pushed them away. You've heard what they want and in return said no because YOU, the developers, don't want it to be that way. Is that the future of destiny? A game that ignores the community because the developers want something else? I could go on about how I've payed for the game and blah blah blah but I wont. I'll just say that you continuously talk about how our feedback is one of the most important aspects of destiny and that our opinions matter but then we give an opinion and you reply that your opinion matters more. Whether you listen to us or not is your choice but don't lie to us and treat us like idiots (even though I'm sure many people on this forum are), we deserve the truth, if nothing else. Does our feedback matter? Sidenote:
I'm not blaming you for any of this DeeJ, I know you're just a messenger and only a fool blames a messenger for delivering his master's words.
A few things. 1) DeeJ is a messenger, but he represents us just like Roger Goodell represents NFL players. 2) DeeJ lies (so negative brownie points there) 3) I think our opinions can matter if we stick together. 4) We are not going to get answers. Their modus operandi is ignore, ignore, ignore. They never said one word during a month of rage over TDB content lockouts. They grudgingly added matchmaking to the community wish list when that blew up (then have ignored it since). Now they'll ignore this. We'll get fluff updates and fake smiles and eventually people will give up on this or so they hope. 5) Bobby Kotick is the devil. Bungie are f**ked 7 ways to Sunday even if they did care.
They don't.
6) The only way to keep them honest is to like and bump posts you believe in and keep them up on the Latest tab. Because for all Bungie's claims they don't censor the forums, NONE of these posts stay up. But DeeJ wants to tell us that "algorithms" pull them down. So if you believe in this cause, bump and like every post you see. 7) This community is awesome, it's a shame Bungie won't interact.

    • I don't feel they care. I gave some feed back on how match making should be put into raids and poe because most of the people I've encountered from posting on this forum join and quit or sometimes send a friend request and don't even join. Then they leave your friends list so you can't report them for being unhelpful. The only response I got was from someone who simply put No. I'm to assume he works for bungie? They said to use lfg? Don't know what that is and to post in recruitment. Which is what I did. Didn't help. I spend more time trying to find guardians to play raids and poe with than playing the game.

Once again the actual message is clear if you read between the lines. That is their way of saying finding people is a challenge ie time sink to add to the content. So instead of actually making quality content they make time sinks. This was also evident with the PoE setup along with the story on the same maps in reverse. They are not making effort to create quality content. They are spending resources to create time sinks to extend the content. Ask yourself why that is. People and companies say far more about their intentions or actions by silence than they often do by responding directly to the questions. Their silence on many of the issues has been deafening. Lost Sols has listed some very good content ideas that I have read for the game. They have direction from the community on what we would like to see. However what we dont see is quality action. We see quick fixes which translate into not spending the time or resources to resolve the crux of issues. This translates into Bungie selling an Illusion instead of a quality product. The entire project needs a serious change of course and attitude adjustment. Illusions like this are no different than Pyramid schemes. Until they change their entire philosophy about development and quality of product, I dont see this changing in the future releases. Their focus on PVP at the moment shows they are simply looking for more ways to extend the life of the product without actually making a quality product or quality additions to the product over time. It's cheaper and far easier to have the customer base create the content than have to develop it from scratch. It also requires far less staff. All of the signs of their motives are right in front of us. We just dont want to admit that to ourselves. Yet the saddest part of this is the core game has enormous potential. The class structure, abilities, weapon design, physics, game mechanics, graphics, and atmosphere are all there in a superb state of potential. The entire story and content built around the story is what has fallen flat on it's face. This really smells more like a rushed project to start generating revenue than a project that was complete and just done poorly. Every indicator is pointing to miss management at every level including and especially the management of development. If any company wants a text book case of how to take a gaming product with a sky's the limit potential and turn it into the biggest failure in years, they have the poster child right in front of them with this game. I am honestly wondering if Activision is even aware of much of this. They may just be pushing deadlines for return on investment and not really aware the content is in such a lazy unfinished development state. Either that or Bungie is trying to get Activision to use their Critical clause and release Bungie from this project for something else entirely. I dont know because most of this is so obvious you cant understand how any company who has developed games for as long as Bungie would do this willingly.

No they don't care. Their "do what we want attitude" is pathetic and I wished we'd all stop supporting them.

      • Dude our beloved "community manager" doesn't even play the goddamned game. He's clueless about what we're talking about and when he does play the game for his public stuff he's playing with the best players in destiny, so he doesn't see problems.

Our feedback does matter, but feedback will only go so far when measured against the design/production/roadmap goals for the company's product. Some issues will addressed swiftly, other things will be placed further down on the list, and some just aren't priority. Matchmaking for endgame activities goes against whatever philosophy of play Bungie has in mind for Destiny. And it seems to go beyond simply creating another flaming hoop for we players to jump through before tasting the sweet, sweet loot and/or tears of your fellow gamers (Trials of Osiris I see you). This company sincerely wants players to actively pursue endgame, to be social in your endeavors, to make friends...? The whole process reminds me of that scene from Hot Tub Time Machine. You want to win? Go find a team and do it! But the process is exhausting and adds a ridiculous amount of time to what can be a grueling experience. Bungie thinks it's worth it though. And, despite my initial bad runs with PUG groups, I can't say they're wrong. Because I have met and made a ridiculous amount of friends through Destiny, and while we have all expanded and moved into other games, we all come back to Destiny. It's a nice feeling, and the team should be proud when they hear these stories. The problem is, they're hearing a lot of positive stories like this. So maybe the question is "how do we get Bungie to see that deeper in-game matchmaking should be a higher priority?" Can we bring together examples of poor matchmaking in the same way people can see positive Destiny experiences? Because at this point, it looks like their Magic H8 Ball still says that the community has developed their own ways and it's working. /2cents

Deej doesn't know what it feels like to really truly NEED matchmaking and etheric light. He ascended up his gear in an instant. Do you really believe he grinded hard for his gear? I saw him do it. Just dipped into his bag of etheric light and his struggle was over. It's the same with raids and PoE 32,34,35. Just chose any 2 or 5 of him MILLIONS of friends and he's off. He couldn't even imagine what it's like for a casual, working person with a family and commitments. If he played it in his free time only ~ if he had to trawl the100 or lfg ~ he would understand. [I bet he does have work, family and commitments btw, but I'm talking about everyone else on the planet that is not him. People who don't play this game for a job. The time we spend working a job is time he's playing and leveling up his gear with his easy acquired light. When we get home and pick up the controller AND phone or tablet he's already been in destiny all day. He probably doesn't even play destiny] But he doesn't have to and so he just says shut up I'm OK so screw you. Like all the other pvp kids on the boards. Just let go and move into something else. Millions of former players heard the reply to matchmaking and put destiny down.

        • We should know better by now. I bet honor and cake (I love cake) that they gave away all the story content in TTK in that vidoc. See how excited they are. The content to come won't be much larger than what's shown in the video and/or inaccessable the people with out six friends with the same console and paid accounts.
