Speech bubbles in social spaces
I was thinking how useful it would be to have like speech bubble type stuff while you're in the tower or the vestian outpost to find people who might wanna play an activity you want to as well.
Sure, waving and dancing and pointing at people are ways to find friendlyish people but unless you go around messaging each individual person if they need help or wanna do something together, it could turn out to be a waste of time when they reject or deny you even if you had good intentions.
Since the trigger buttons arent really used in the tower, it could be used to bring up the speech command and then you could enter text that would appear in a little speech box floating over your character so people in your tower can see.
Simple messages like:
'Anyone need Crota?'
'PoE 34?'
'VoG Hard?'
Things like these that would cost people time to go around messaging and finding people and wasting time on LFG and stuff. Just pop up a message and get invites and requests and then you have a fireteam!
I don't know, it was a late night idea that popped into my head, wanted to see if anyone thought it would be cool also. Lemme know what you think?!

Some form of communicating in the tower would be great. You can plug key boards in to your consoles or use basic premade statements. They could even have the app sync with your phone so you could write with that too

5 RepliesHonestly suprised this hasn't been implemented all ready it's a no brainer. And to stop spam, you can't write any old thing in your speech bubble, you just pick from a list of all activities; First drop down box RAID ,second box VOG then NORMAL/HARD, as an example.

I thought of a check box system when you inspect a player. Raid box Strike box Weekly box Nightfall box And so on... It would have a caption over it telling people who are inspecting your character can see what you might be planning to do. Then you could send a request with the box you selected.

So long as there are pretty selected bubbles I'm okay with it. But I remember the days of Diablo 2: LoD and people putting up a bubble as follows; XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX , and that's all you could see for a while.

I think this is a bad way of implementing a good idea. Text bubbles where people can type in whatever they want is an absolute no-no because it 'll lead to a bunch of spamming and vulgar language being displayed for all to see; and you also have the language and ignorance barriers to deal with (lets be real some people can't type well). One great thing about Destiny is that it's highly accessible to gamers of a various ages and creeds. Another great thing is it lacks text chat so there's no spamming. However, overall it's a good idea that I've toyed with myself. Personally my idea is to [b]have pre-established abbreviations for different group activities that anybody can select from and have it displayed above their guardian's head to the left of their level.[/b] You can just select something like "LFG VoG Hard" or "LFM PoE 35". Have it displayed in a different color but the same size font and there ya go, a clean, simple, quick and easy way to communicate what you're looking for without having to do much work or wade through spam. It's very minimal and would allow for all LFG sites and apps to thrive because they allow for more detail/control. This is what the game really needs.

Instead of putting the text in a speech bubble over people's heads, I would add it to their Inspect Player screen. Or only have it show in a bubble if you R3 select them. Too invasive otherwise. I don't want to look at a screen with a bunch of text bubbles. No one could grab a decent screenshot in the Tower ever again. Especially considering the kinds of messages some people would have.
