So last year, a user named Lord Zedd managed to force a never before seen easter egg active in Halo 3 by editing the files, but at the time he didn't know how to actually activate it (original video above^).Of course, [url=https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/63256985/1/0]when user gamerguy2002 tried to bring it to the attention of the forums, [/url] people dismissed it as fake and acted like Lord Zedd was trying to play some elaborate hoax on them. A few months later, [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ClTWxQ7kUI8]Lord Zedd showed a way of getting it to work[/url], but it involved destroying things in a very particular order, it didn't always work, and such a specific order didn't make sense if it was an egg anyone was meant to find, so again most people thought it was fake. Well, it's real, and it's fairly easy to do. [b]III[/b] Be on Legendary. Destroy the 35 'large' crystal groupings in the first area of the level. After you destroy the last one, wait at least 7 minutes before leaving the area (yes, 7 minutes, freaking Bungie and that damn number). The end. [b]III[/b] The Easter Egg appears off the side of the cliff towards the waterfall within a minute of destroying the Scarab. [b]So to once and for all (hopefully) put it to rest, [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t09b1L_mdLo] here is a full twitch recording I just made in the Master Chief Collection of me activating this egg.[/url][/b] (EDIT 6th of June 2015, replaced twitch link with youtube mirror, twitch deleted the original recording after a certain time) I destroy the crystals, screw around for 7 minutes, then play through the rest of the level (badly, including a stubborn chunk of time where I try to climb a wall with a ghost to stop some enemies spawning, wasn't really worth it imo), culminating with glorious explosions in the sky. Anyone with MCC or H3 for 360 can easily check it themselves if they somehow think I'm the first person in the world to hack an xbox one or something. If you can't see which crystals I destroy for some reason or another, Lord Zedd's original tutorial video I linked above highlights them in lime green when he goes around destroying them in that very specific order (that order is not needed for this method). The reason destroying them in a particular order worked was the time it took to destroy them all, as the script checks 5 crystals at a time once per minute, and coincidentally destroying them in that order also cleared them one line at a time, which is what lead to inconsistent results if you did the same order but were too fast. 7 minutes covers every possible combination, as no matter what order you destroy them in that covers your bases. Most people probably don't care, but hey, at least it's here for posterity. It also makes it entertaining to scroll down the comments in that original thread and see the skeptical comments, I especially like the guy who told Bungie their egg wasn't "easter egg material" lol.
