Iron Banner/Control Tips

Hello, I'd like to start off by saying that there is no single way to dominate in PvP, and I am in no way trying to come off as a good PvPer. I am only offering tips that I've learned playing in Iron Banner to help people struggling with it. I know IB is over for this month but the same tips apply for Control and when IB comes back. These tips will help you keep a positive K/D score while helping your team to score more wins. 1. Don't use a weapon your not comfortable with, even if it is considered an "OP" weapon. If you can effortlessly land head shots with you favourite weapon chances are you will do better using that weapon. Just keep in mind the higher the impact the less head shots you will need to put someone down. 2. Don't be aggressive. You will do a lot better playing safe and taking it slow. Don't run out into the open as that is the best way to get easily picked off. Stick to cover and remember you don't have to run every time you move. 3. Try to play with a friend. There is just something comforting knowing that someone has you back. If you stick together with your friends you can call out enemies and campers, also the two of you should be able to kill any players that wonder into your path pretty easily. 4. Don't play control as if its a domination match from CoD. The objective is not to have all the control points. Just think of the control points as spawn points that give you extra points per kill for each one you control. You gain most points from kills and you get extra points for making a kill defending one of these spawns. However unless your in a fireteam with good communication, trying to capture the opposing teams control point can actually cause more harm then good, causing them to spawn near a spawn point behind you. As long as they keep their spawn you know where they will be coming from and you can set up a good defence. If you defend the second capture point you will gain lots of points from defending kills winning almost every game. 5. Watch your radar. This will help you more then you can imagine. If you are about to make a kill don't keep ADS up for long periods of time. Unless you have a perk, you can't see your radar and it will give someone a chance to sneak up behind you. 6. Bring an entire load out of weapons. Make sure you bring one of each type of weapon. You don't want to be that guy continually being killed by a sniper with nothing in your inventory but a pulse rifle. It's better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it. 7. Don't play angry. You will only get worse as you get more angry. Instead try to take a break, grab a snack, and take your anger out on some dregs or other NPC. 8. Watch your special ammo. Try to pick up some special ammo when you get low. There is nothing worse then turning a corner with a shotgun and pressing your trigger and nothing happens, then of course you get a taste of a shotgun yourself. 9. Save your super for opportune moments. For example save your super for a group kill or to shut down another players super or even to kill some enemies capturing a control point. You have to wait a while for you super to come up and it's a shame to waste it on a single panic kill. 10. Try to always be ready for the heavy ammo drop. You don't want to let it go and the other team grab it. But at the same time don't crowd it either as there may be an enemy waiting for your team to group together and they pull off a super. Also don't be one of those guys to open the heavy ammo with half your team heading your way. If you wait a few more seconds there will be a lot more rockets to go around. 11. Accept your loss. You wont always win every match. You will of course run into a better team but don't fear, you get rewards for losing too. Some even argue that the losing team gets the better rewards anyway, Unless your trying to farm rep that is. 12. Have fun Destiny is supposed to be a fun game, if your not having fun then your trying too hard. Relax and find a strategy that works for you. Not everyone is meant for PvP and there is no shame in that. If you follow these basic tips you should start to see a positive k/d score along with some extra wins along the way. Thanks for reading. Also, If you know of anything else that may be helpful please let me know.
