Many people (present company included) have been cut off from much of your high-end HOW content for lack of optional matchmaking. I don't want to hear about your "team-building" philosophy, or that the experience is meant to be played a certain way. No more excuses; just stop being jerks and make this happen. Seriously.
Edit 1: hopefully more ppl will respond to this thread. Even negative feedback is welcome!

As I said in another thread, I would like to see optional matchmaking in all activities. I would like to see 3 options: 1. Private (join fireteam only by invitation. This would also allow solo attempts) 2. Friends (friends can join without invitation) 3. Open (automatically match-makes with guardians doing the same activity) For options 2 & 3, anyone looking at the status of the guardian should be shown "Match-making for (name of activity)" instead of "In Orbit" or "Playing Destiny". Players should be able to set the default option for match-making in the options/preferences GUI. But be able to change it when selecting an activity (pull-down like changing the level of a mission).

I'm not against option MM, but I think it will do more harm than good in higher level encounters. Most of the people requesting it haven't experienced HM raids so they don't realize how horrible an encounter can become with just one troll/bad player.

Edited by Freya: 6/8/2015 8:54:56 PMOptional matchmaking is an absolute yes. When none of my friends are on, it's really irritating to go search the Tower and Reef for new people. I have to click on each individual's profile to send them a message that most people don't even check.

Matchmaking optional for all game modes!!! Please.
-
YES!!!!! Matchmaking!!!
-
Yes but only if it's optional I agree bump!!

It ruins the endgame environment.

Here is a quote from a destiny designer in the weekly update which announced MATCHMAKING for the weekly heroic strike: "M.E. No, but we are keenly aware of the issue. We think good Raid sessions rely on groups of communicative players who are invested in each other, but we know that it’s challenging for many players to find groups for Raids and Nightfall today. We are thinking hard about how we can help make that an easier experience in future releases." If several months ago they were "thinking hard" about matchmaking then why would they release a new DLC with 4 new End-Game activities that have no matchmaking? This is proof, Bungie is not listening to us and does not care.

Indeed
-
Absolutely YES
-
Bump for optional MM.
-
I believe there should be matchmaking for strikes, nightfall's, and PoE's. same rules apply just add matchmaking.
-
POE yes, Trials no.
-
-
Trials having matchmaking will just make it easier for pre made fireteams who actually know what they're doing, so if you want to get shit on 24/7 be my guest. I agree with mm for 32 POE, don't see why it shouldn't be a thing.
-
The L32 should be matchmaking....all of it should have checkpoints. Throw in some mini-rewards for motivation if people jumping in at the end is actually a real issue (I don't think it is)

Agreed
