In the days of old, Iron Banner gear was worth something. Worth about 30 light, actually... And then it was worth 36 light... It was the only way to get raid-equivalent gear without playing the raids. I actually timed the creation of both my alts in anticipation of the Iron Banner, allowing me to get to 31.5 before my first leap into the Hellmouth. So suffice it to say, I woke up this morning eagerly anticipating the grind for some sweet new 42 I/D light gear to add some variety to my increasingly strength-based builds (thanks Judgement Armor *rolls eyes*). Still rubbing the sleep out of my eyes, I log on to Bungie.net to check out the new gear. 36 LIGHT?! 36 LIGHT!?!!? I have stacks on stacks on stacks worth of 36 light gear. I could clothe the population of a small country in 36 light gear. "But you can buy Etheric Light at ranks 3 & 5" So? I need that Etheric Light to upgrade my VoC, or my collection of Efrideet's Spears, or 1000 other weapons and armor with better stats than this new IB gear. I can't even make the argument for the cosmetic value of this IB gear! So will I be grinding all 3 of my alts to rank 5 this week? Well yeah, of course... I just won't feel AS rewarded for it...
