Let's try and give an honest response to Bungie on this one. I like Destiny and want to see it last, I'm just hoping that they decide my money spent on their product gives me the right to access all their content even with my lifestyle.
This might deliver a better picture to not only Bungie, but also the community about where things stand.
EDIT 1: Changed the title to reflect optional instead of just matchmaking.
EDIT 2: There has been some great feedback so far, but I was hoping for more from those actually opposed to matchmaking than "good riddance crybabies". This is NOT a post about leaving the game, this is a post about where the community stands.
Thanks for all the feedback so far, it seems that matchmaking is not the deciding factor in future purchases for most, but definitely a contributor. What this tells me is that adding OPTIONAL matchmaking would add to the perceived value, especially for those like myself that have never been able to even get through VoG.
I think that's something to consider Bungie.
EDIT 3: So the announcements have been made. $40, new missions(supposedly several), new raid, new crucible maps, new area, no new planet...? Still no matchmaking, in game lfg, or private matches.
So where do you stand now?
Please like and bump to get this trending so that Bungie and others can see the results as well.

Edited by Dustin1208: 5/31/2015 3:17:08 AMWell it seems this post has been noticed. It was trending since I put it up and now it's gone. So Bungie has seen where we stand and doesn't care. Thanks so much to everyone that voted in the poll, this was very helpful to me personally. We'll just have to wait and see if Bungie learned anything from it. See you in the stars guardians.

New information revealed, what is everyone's plans with TTK?
-
House of wolves has come and past. Which means I am finished with destiny period. Matchmaking was the least of my concerns...
-
Honestly I don't think I will ever stop playing destiny even if I hate something they do. I think I just can't stop playing until 10 years later when they finish it. I feel sad that this is true but it is what it is

Me personally, I'm not fussed about matchmaking. I've never really had a problem finding people to do any of the end game content with.. I have 7 pages of friends and I only know 2 of them outside of PlayStation. It's never taken me more than 10 minutes to find a group and I constantly have people asking me to help out and I have people I play regularly with in certain activities because we worked well together and actually had conversations. If not for destiny and its lfg apps I would have an empty friends list so I'd be happy for it to stay the way it is but for the sake of others, I believe bungie should give the people what they want.. I mean, the customer is always right.

Really don't care here. I vote with content, not mechanics. Optional MM would be nice as the community has become suddenly very elitist with the new dlc, making it hard for some to find a game at all. However, it is not the "to buy or not to buy" factor. Ps, thanks for being one of the extremely few to make a fair and unbiased poll. Haven't seen one in here in forever.
-
Yes. Matchmaking isn't needed for end game.
-
Edited by MightyJonE: 5/31/2015 11:33:35 PMOptional MM would be the least of comet's problems. As far as I'm concerned, the game would have to be bloody amazing for me to even consider forking out such money for what is only really an expansion, not a full blown sequel Based on the so-called "expansions" so far, the prevalent theme is paying a lot for very little

We shouldn't be blaming bungie. First, look at how the halo series turned out with bungie. It was ruined when they left it. Also, bungie has never been the huge "20 dollar DLC" company. That is all activision's fault. Not bungie.
-
What kind of matchmaking?
-
Is comet the dlc where they finish unlocking the content already in the disc?
-
Never buying Bungie or Activision bullshit again.
-
Season pass was the last dollar of mine Bungievision will get. I was a big fan of Halo. Never played any Activision games. Not enough depth behind the pretty graphics. There are enough gaming companies that it is pretty easy to spot the ones who are concerned more about the quality of their product than their bottom line.
-
I'll buy it if it's good. But will be disappointed if MM is not either implemented by then or added at that time.
-
Yes, I'm buying it sight unseen. I'm a shameless fanboy. So sue me. I solo most of the game anyway, until it comes to Nightfall and the other strikes.
-
Comet won't have it for end game either
-
I thought with better internet, I could get into raids, and end game content... Turns out, without matchmaking being an automatic process... by that, I mean having to go and find people to play it with... Makes it not at all fun... So, with that in mind, I am unlikely to buy Comet unless they add in single player, lone wolf endgame content (or Matchmaking)
-
Thanks so much for all the feedback so far. From the looks of it we have had over 100 people vote on this poll. When I change my vote the percentage doesn't change even 1%. I just want to clarify this is not an "add matchmaking or else" post. I was genuinely curious how important matchmaking is to the community. The majority seem to be of the same mind as I am. Matchmaking will only add to the perceived value of the game.
-
Matchmaking is but 1 of the criteria in order for me to purchase comet. A better reward system then RNG. No more of this ridiculous light level bullshit. Just to name a few.
-
Trying to find a reason to have confidence that Bungie will get back to halo-halo 3 bungie and get away from this COD knock off.
-
if the next step/expansion for destiny is not at least 80% pve and loaded with pve content i am done with this cut content lie called destiny. this massive favoritism towards pvp has to fvcking stop.
-
Edited by Willdahbeest: 5/31/2015 1:05:19 AMHow do you keep from people simply being thrown in at the end and getting rewards for one lone part, but also not have people screwed when they've lost their random due to connection, rage quit, or simply trolling?
-
Im part of a clan so I don't really need it. So yes, I will buy future expansions. However I understand the need for it and hope to see it someday
-
I don't plan on buying another product from Bungie again so I don't care about MM or comet. Fool me once and you don't get a second chance.
-
I answered that "matchmaking is important, but not the only deciding factor, if it's worth the value yes". That being said, it would have to have alot of new PvE content that can be accessed alone (if it doesn't have matchmaking) for me to buy it. I already plan on waiting for it to drop and then waiting 2-4 weeks for reports to come in before I buy.
-
Won't buy Comet anyway so......no?
