Hey Pirate_Dylan, The Trials of Osiris is an endgame activity. Like all other endgame activities, you need a full fire team to complete your mission. Bungie designed these activities to require communication and well developed tactics. A matchmaking system may be nice in thought, but statistics have shown that completion rates for activities are significantly lower compared to those with pre-made teams. It makes sense. You'll talk to people that you know, but there's no guarantee that guardians randomly matched together will communicate.
