Bungie needs to be reminded what defines "challenging" Gameplay.

Because Prison of Elders is NOT it. Vault of Glass, however, [i]was.[/i] Why? Because VoG actually had team based objectives that required full cooperation to achieve success. -Raising the spire -Defending the Confluxes -Destroying the oracles -Defeating the Templar -Sneaking through the Gorgon Maze. -Making it across the platform jump. -Killing the gatekeepers and defending the central Conflux while your teammates retrieved the relics. -Destroying oracles in the portals while your teammates cleared supplicants outside. -And finally, killing Atheon. Just look at this list...that is a lot of TACTICAL cooperation to complete OBJECTIVES. [i]Not just 5 rounds of killing the same enemies over and over again.[/i] And then there's Crota's End -Navigating through an awesome thrall cave AS A TEAM. (Or solo lol YOLO) -Then surviving together at the end to build the bridge. -Building the second bridge and using communication to survive long enough to get everyone across. -And then...[b]the Deathsinger.[/b] This is where everything went downhill. You see, instead of presenting another interesting challenge for us to complete, like destroying oracles or navigating through a cool maze, Bungie decided to "crank it up a notch" [i]by hurling 50 hallowed Knights at us.[/i] Seriously? I mean, really, how lazy does that sound? "Guys, we don't know what to do. I know! Let's just throw tons of pointless enemies at them and pass it off as a challenge!" NO, Bungie. Giving us a giant mob of bullet sponges and increasing their levels so we only do 50% damage is not "hard mode." Not a true one at least. Hard Mode was taking away revives. Taking away the chalice. Making a wizard spawn if we killed the knights. Putting a Gatekeeper in the safe room. MAKING US THINK!!! [b]That[/b] is a challenge! Unfortunately, Bungie has become lazy as all hell recently, and just said f-ck it, let's just throw higher level enemies at them that constantly shoot and never reload and add a modifier burn that makes them kill all the players in 2.3 seconds. That sounds perfect, right? Seriously? Come on, man...it's truly embarrassing at this point. I am literally embarrassed FOR you, Bungie! You are better than this! There are so many things you could have made that would have been better than "Prison of shoot enemies until you win." Oh but wait, "we added mines!" And? Who gives a flying f-ck about making us stand in one spot for 8 seconds? A 5 year old could have come up with that idea. The ONLY, and I mean ONLY, thing I've seen in the entire PoE, that I thought was even [i]remotely[/i] mentally stimulating and original was when Urrox burns the ground and the "slow" mines that cone up out of the ground. Everything else is THE EXACT SAME SHIT WE'VE BEEN DOING FOR 8 MONTHS. Wake the hell up, Bungie and stop insulting our intelligence by trying to pass off this 3rd rate "arena" as a kickass, FUN, cooperative gaming experience. Because there is [b][i]nothing[/i][/b] fun about shooting at shit for 5 rounds. You may think making the enemies harder to kill with elemental shields and making the guardians get 1-shotted by bosses with burns is upping the ante, but it's not. This type of gameplay only serves to frustrate the players. Quick poll: Who here would like to fight Valus with solar burn on? Deathsinger with arc burn? Atheon with 50 major minotaurs and void burn? Have I beat this dead horse enough for you to open your eyes, Bungie? Or are you still too blinded by dollar signs to care?

      What you said is true. I've beaten a dead horse too; this DLC is written for the PvP player in mind. PoE is what PvP players think of when they think of PvE, or at least, what they think PvE should be. It isn't. Escalating levels of enemies spawning on top of your position is not a raid or even close to raid mechanics. It's instant action PvP with AI. That's it. That's all. It so totally caters to PvP skill and mind set they can't understand why many PvE players are repulsed by it. The biggest cranial challenge I have to overcome in PoE is which pad to stand on, which mine to explode, or what elemental burn the rotating enemy hordes are wearing now . Blech.

      • Well said sir! I posted this in the gameplay problems forum but have not received a reply and honestly dont expect one but if venting is all I can do then vent I shall! I do NOT enjoy playing Crucible/Trials and being forced to in order to get the "best" gear just so I can compete in PvE (levels 34+ of the Arena) is a complete joke. I spent over 4 hours beating my head against a brick wall named Qodron to no avail because I dont have the snap reflexes of a 10 year old child and cant seem to get anywhere in your so called Trials of Osiris, which is in reality just a rehashed version of the current crucible maps and gameplay. The RNG drop rate of Etheric Light is completely ridiculous in Nightfall and if I cant get it through determination and hard work in the Arena what am I left with but a 20$ waste of memory on my system? Might consider changing the company name to Bungle because this DLC is an utter farce. Thanks so much for wasting my money and time as well as raising my blood pressure. I get no sense of satisfaction by earning standard gear from the Vendor Variks because I know weeks in advance when ill be able to reach the level cap. Plain and simple I feel stupid for having let you string me along and fleece me with promises of glory.

      • Bump. Trying to do the 34 PoE this week is basically impossible. Let's have a boss (which is basically the same mini boss you've fought four million times) shoot this big bomb at the guardians so they're forced to hide in this little corner. Next let's exclusively send hobgoblin majors that two shot any guardian that wants to do damage. Also lets have the boss put indestructible shields around the guardians that kill them unless they have some magical buff that lets them destroy the shield. So not only are you trying to kill mobs and do damage to the boss, but you have to look for one specific goblin amidst a cluster -blam!- of hobgoblins. Bungie's definition of a "challenge" is, "Let's just throw a bunch of cheap enemies with pinpoint accuracy at the player. Oh and don't forget to make them majors so they take four mags to kill."

              • Bump for Tru7h. Bungie has lost what "it is" to make an actual challenge. Bullet sponges does not a challenge make. Having five guys play upport for one monkey with a sword does not equal "teamwork". The Vault of Glass had/has proper Challenge. The vault of Glass requires actual Teamwork. Whomever you have designing the new "challenges" is obviously not the same team of guys who designed the Vault. If they do happen to be the same guys, slap them until they remember what they did to design the Vault. Because what you're giving us now is not even close to being on par with the greatness you gave us in the Vault.

                  • I've never considered any raid or pve activity challanging beyond gear gauging. That's all Destiny really is, one big gear gauge. You either have the gear and melt the AI or you don't and crash into a wall repeatedly. There are no roles in Destiny. The closest thing to a role has been Raid gimmicks. PoE is just 4 rounds of public events with nightfall modifiers. The bosses are either 30second gjallarhorn beatdowns or you have to play through their red-light , green-light dps mechanics. There is no nuance to this game. Just dps targets.

                        • I completely agree with your argument but for one fact. You mentioned that mobs in PoE kill you on 2.5 seconds, that's much longer than it can take. One Hallowed Knight blindsided me on an arc burn round and I was literally dead before my brain processed what was happening.

                          • I love how we are in a prison and have to diffuse random mines. What? And you are right. The challenge is stupid, adding arc burn to a hive battle and then adding countless spawns of adds sucks. I've hated the adds fights since day one. Now PoE is just more adds. No thanks. I'm very bored of that and the absolute garbage RNG.

                          • I do agree. I've been saying much the same thing for a while now. PoE seems like PvP with AI and Nightfall modifiers. Throwing gobs of bullet sponges and placing us in a confined space with little cover is not on par with the challenges of a Raid. I like a combination of teamwork, problem solving, tricky enemies, etc. thesis just hardcore shoot 'em up and try not to die.

                          • Poor comparison I think. Yes, at first they were hard. Then we found out how to play them. Vault of glass takes 2/3 people and ce takes 1/2. That's not "challenging". Poe is a nice change and with a dif fight each week it makes it harder
