Look I know topics on Religion are taboo here, but something has to be said, especially since Bungie gives no back story to why they are in the game!
What I don't understand is why is there suddenly a large amount of Occult symbolism in the game, with the release of HoW?
For instance the new Warlock exotic The Rams Head with the term " Praise Me" inscribed in it. For many cultures is a symbol of Satanism, Illuminati etc. It seems fairly out of place in a game about space Exploration.
Trials of Osiris (Named after the Egyptian God of The Dead). Has the "the eye of providence, A.K.A All seeing eye of God. Which has also been associated with the Illuminati and Masons.
Ripping off parts of the Bible e.g Skolas "Kells of Kells" is "King of Kings" in Bible. Or a couple of the venders are repeating Bible verses but replacing the word "God" with "Light"
This post isn't really meant for arguing about the existence of God, or peoples preferred Religion. It's just to point out that there is something odd and out of place about all of this. If you noticed any other peculiarity's, or if you know why, or can come up for an explanation for them, I would like to hear them. Otherwise I'm starting to wonder if all the delays in the release of HoW, are due to programming getting in the way of their daily Goat Sacrifices or something lol

Very observant. I did notice the eye of osiris being part of the dollar bill.

The reef isn't a safe haven like the tower. You are sure to find believers and more unique individuals of different religions and alien races. Just bungie's way of "diversity"
-
Many different religions and cultures were drawn upon when making this game. Norse and Egyptian being two examples. I've explained to my friends how the plot of Destiny can be made into a parallel for the Bible.

Edited by XcEvilGenius: 5/26/2015 11:05:26 PMevery single game and in life can relate to religion in one way or another. its the same story over and over Light vs the Darkness. we are playing a game in REAL LIFE. your mission is to find out who you are so you can actually begin your life fully aware of your Divinity.no longer walking the lands without purpose;without light! :)

The new hand cannon "the revelator" referring to John in the bible. It's also a gospel song.

Edited by BarnicleBarn: 5/26/2015 4:08:03 PMOsiris was not the Egyptian God of the dead. He was the Lord of life and death in the pantheon, and a symbol of eternal life as he himself was brought back from the dead after Set killed him and cut him into pieces before his sister Isis put him back together. Anubis is technically the guide for the dead and is represented in one of the new helmets. The Middle Egyptian pantheon is absurdly complex with multiple God's following Ra into the underworld at night and fulfilling various roles, with Osiris just being one of the players. The point is though there nothing Occult about those references, it's just a call out to symbolism from ancient Egypt. The helmet looks more ram than goat to me and there is a big difference between the symbolism of the goat and the ram. That said, you do have a point. Why would a guardian called Osiris just happen to have an Egyptian themed cult? What did he do, take his name too seriously? Why would a space faring guardian battling darkness pick a random pre-modern civilization as the basis for his cult and armor? Why the hell are there cultists on the reef to a guardian that has his lighthouse on Mercury? Why would the Vex who turned the entire planet into a machine tolerate a little guardian nest? I mean grimoire aside, none of it makes any sense at all. Edit: correcting Horus to Set per a good spot from a friendly poster.

Edited by DownwardSpyril: 5/26/2015 2:15:11 PMBungie team drew inspiration from a lot of existing lore, text, etc. They even drew from the movies. The Traveler is clearly the opposite portrayal (or is it) of "Evil" from the "Fifth Element". But unlike the "Fifth Element"...Gary Oldman's presence...is not part of Destiny.
-
OP...is there a connection here? • Destiny - Chamber of Night Story Mission Returning the shard of the Traveler. • Bible - Anti-Christ reference
Revelation 13:3 “And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast.”
Maybe bungies creative staff is just lazy and cant write their own shit. And seriously the bible is freakin huge and covers many topics, i probably quoted it in this post.

Because the overall look and feel of the game is 'technology so advanced that it looks like magic' [ Ref ] So the Vex look like deamons, and the Hive look all undead, and successful Guardians get an actual halo. You've got tehno-wizards and techno-magic all over the place, so Bungie really doesnt need a resident Occultist. They just need the Big Picture Book of Magic Stuff from which they can cherry pick the most recognizable imagery. If there was an actual occultist working there I'm guessing the references made might have been more along the lines of 14th Century Gnostic Mysticism rather than something you recognized from He-Man or Stargate.

Don't ever play a Shin Megami Tensei game.
-
People like occult imagery and stuff. Its edgy and cool. Oh no the devil is out to get you. Obviously they just took some bible stuff and slapped it in the game. Im sure its not serious. I highly doubt Bungie are satanists. Alot of games use occult crap.
-
We haven't even started talking about how they subliminally brain wash you in hyperspace
-
Don't you get it??? Bungie = Illuminati We are forever forced to pay for endless empty expansions. Forever trapped inside a void of repetitive boring gameplay, farmind and such. The true guardians the ones who have endured this will be the ones who are absolved This is a sign of the rapture. People who play destiny will be spared this life to enter the kingdom of heaven (or whatever your religion specifies is heaven or god)
-
The Bible is what's ripping off "King of Kings." Learn to history. Gilgamesh. Also, God forbid they even say that, how horrible.
-
There were illuminati symbols all over this game before HoW came out. If your awake you can see them.
-
Games have always borrowed from different religions, RPGs are full of references and lore connections, Norse, Egyptian, Christian, Greek, Roman, all these mythologies and more appear all over gaming.
-
So you don't follow satan? so confused why you don't
just a joke
-
Because this guy convinced Bungie that he could design interesting gear...
-
The Ram is to make it spooky.
-
Or maybe game of thrones? King of kings, king beyond the wall, etc. I noticed it too
-
-
The eyes in the trials of osirus are reffering to the eye or horus, an ancient egyption god.
-
Not to get into a religious debate with you, but quite a bit of Egyptian philosophy and/or mythology covers space exploration.
-
Illuminati confirmed!!!!

Nothing to read here. Move along guardians.
