It sucks to have to exit the fight to a pause menu, with one shotting enemies, lurking around. The ammo synth should be used by holding down a direction on the d pad. You could still do memes by pressing it briefly, but holding it down could bring up the circle fill animation with a prompt. Edit: players have suggested holding reload to fill the circle, with the desired weapon equipped or having assignable hot keys on the pad, so you could do what you like. Both are great ideas.
