Classes - The endless debate/debacle

This is my opinion. This is based mostly of PvE. If you like this, upvote, add me on PSN, TijoWasik, and we'll PoE or Raid sometime. Once and for all, I'm going to put the classes argument to bed. Inb4, I play all three classes, subs maxed on all three, and done all endgame activities, barring 34/5 PoE on all classes and subs. So I know what I'm talking about. Let me start by saying, all classes have their merits, all subclasses have their merits. Hunters are fast. Titans tank. Warlocks Tac-nade for days. (Tac-nade being tactical grenade, and something you have to shout if you make kill(s) with a grenade in our group). Easiest way to do this would be to tell you my story of the individual chars, and where they come in really useful for me. My First. Hunter. Gunslinger until 15, then maxed Bladedancer, then back to Gunslinger to max So my first experience of Destiny: The Game was a Hunter. I'd had friends play and tell me I just had to get this damn game (Which involved purchasing a PS4, too, but that's another story). I started Hunter because every game I've ever played was with snipers, distance fighting, and escapism. It's what I do. I take that extra 0.5 seconds on my scope to make sure I hit the precision mark. That's where my hunter excels. We all know they're a little weaker, but they're clever. It takes a different kind of mindset - and a good team - to be able to play the Hunter well. Gunslinger The merits are obvious. With the new Exotic helmet delivering a single Golden Gun shot with 6x damage, Chain of Woe and Gunslinger's Trance stackable's, the Gunslinger is an all out DPS machine. Plus, I saw a video a week or so back where a single Throwing Knife completed 10 bounties at once. T'was a thing of beauty. Weak points are the health, and to a point (compared with Bladedancer, at least) the speed. You also have to be very accurate to keep your bonuses up and stacking, but if you do, your rewards will be immense. Believe me. I did it. Bladedancer The tactics machine. To a point, the standard Rogue. The one that gets up close and personal, does the damage and is out of there before the enemy knows what happened. They're usually dead by this point too. Let me get this clear, although the melee is useless for most of the bosses, it's an Ad clearer. You ever been sat in Phogoth at level 28 for the Thorn bounty, in the Nexus nightfall with Arc Burn, and there's just hundreds of the damn things? Well line up, line up, Bladedancer is mercilessly coming through. Of course, health, and the lack of Super DPS on the boss is disappointing. But the ad clearance just isn't matched. For my next trick, I want to be a self-res'ing Warlock! Maxed Sunsinger, then immediately moved to Voidwalker. And that was a mistake. I honestly find my Nova Bomb more useful. I mean sure, self-res is beautiful in a hard situation, and I do use it when I'm with players that I know don't have the tactical prowess that I do, but as a rule... I don't actually keep my self-res super on. Sunsinger The merits are more than self-res, though. Apoteosis Veil with it's 'Regen health on Super' means your Radiance is so much more relevant than just being there for when you're dead. And with the rolls on HoW being as they are where your ammo fills up on Super too, just... wow. The fact that your grenades go on constant spawn too is amazing. Not to mention, Airborne buff and Angel of Light combination in PoE means DPS is through the roof (seriously, I can destroy Yellow Bar Servitor's just by Angel of Light and Swordbreaker before hitting the ground, it's amazing to see). The drawbacks... there aren't many. The big one I think of is complacency. When you know you have a self-res, you die easier. And believe me, I've done it too. Speed, and trying to get used to the jumping are two others. Voidwalker Well I had a lot of fun with this guy. Between Lance and Shatter, you have the option of clearing ads quickly, and causing massive damage. If you've never Nova Bomb'd Atheon, I recommend it highly. It's hilarious. Bloom is a biggie, too. Chain reactions are awesome. Throw in a Skull of Dire Ahamkara, and you have a beast of a Voidwalker build. My issue with this sub is that everything is centred around Nova Bomb, at least, for me. The grenades are comparatively weak, and it's difficult to get away from a Nova build, plus, it's hard to generate a lot of orbs without taking down some Yellow health to 30% in the first place. But boy, when you get that Super, is it fun firing it. If the Tanks succeed, Victory follows. Weapons of Light obtained, moved to Striker, maxed, back to Defender to max I've been lucky enough to never have to play as a Titan until I wanted to. Most of my crew have one already, and for a lot of them, it was their main. So I got to use my own play-style before relenting and setting up my Titan, for the giggles. Striker Let's talk about Striker's. Shoulder Charge. Fist of Havoc. Unstoppable on armour pieces, so a second perk in the tree. Power on all angles. But it suffers, unfortunately, from the same drawback of Bladedancer. It's damn useless against a boss. Ad clearer. But here's the use case - and it's a big one. Fireteam of three Titans. Wolves pop up. Take out the first wave while generating orbs with a bubble (I'll get to that). Fist of Havoc the second wave creating (probably) enough orbs to feed the other striker, Fist of Havoc the third wave generating... you get the picture. Try it. It's awesome. Defender Bubbles, oh Titan, how we all love your bubbles. How we love Weapons of Light when fighting Atheon, how we love your Armour of light when gangs of Thralls are chasing, how we love your Blessing when facing up with a Boss. And damn, you can take some hits. This... This one is my favourite class. Not to play on my own with, but to run through endgame with. And not when I'm playing with other classes... but when there's three defenders in PoE. Because you can chain the bubble, and chain, and chain, and chain. You can keep that bubble going for the whole damn time, and if the three of you can work together, it becomes a laughable exercise. Speed, lack of DPS Super, and too slow to be a big ad clearer, these things can worked around. In summary... My favourite does not mean it's the best. My second favourite sub is Gunslinger, third, Voidwalker. It suits the way that I play. And that's just it. There is no best class. There are only players who play well with different classes. I can own the Hunter, but my Titan skills can be questionable. Most of my friends couldn't use a Hunter for toffee, but their Warlock's never die. And other friends can't use a Warlock or Hunter, and have three Titans, but on my life I've never seen someone use them so well. So please, stop all this wittering on about "My class is better than your class". No. It isn't. You play better with your particular sub in your particular play-style. That doesn't make your class choice a better or worse one. TijoWasik, out.

 • The thing I love seeing in a 3-man party, or 6-man party is the balance of classes. For example: Me: *goes into roc strike* *all three classes* Oh dis gon be goooooood. I mean, everyone does their own playstyle as if they're soloing the strike, but it's like an asymmetrical balance And my dream team is the raid with all six subclasses, with people who BOSS them. Titans and Hunters clear enemies Warlocks.. well warlocks just do their own thing (and by that I mean secretly plan to do all the hits with nova Bomb and radiance) My favorite class is the Warlcock, and I use Sunsinger, almost constantly. I have a 24 Hunter, but that's the point, he's a 24, in all honesty, I would gladly have three warlocks for each subclass. Oh and everyone else, I don't always use self res, though it is a common necessity of you guys want to do 30+ stuff. But if you know what you're doing with Sunsinger, then baby you will be a PvE God!
