HoW First Impression...and before

I have been looking forward to Destiny ever since I the first rumors hit the darkest corner of the internet and was just a whisper on the lips of fellow spartans, rumors of Bungies "other" game. I would spend hours searching the internet looking for updates about this misterious "other" game that bungie was working on...but I couldnt find anything more than rumors and rumors about rumors. At the time, Halo was pretty much the only game I played and I played it from day 1, and over the years I have bought MANY copies...most being countless copies of Halo 1, 2, and 3 for LAN parties that we held multiple times throughout the week! My loyalty and respect for Bungie was far beyond what any other gaming company could even begin to touch. Being 26 years old now, I have spent over half my life as a devout Halo player and Bungie fan. Bungie could do nothing wrong in my eyes.... Then one day, rumors became legend as reveals finally started to popup around the net about Bungie's newest game! I was all in and ready to abandon Halo (Only because the competative scene was all I had...) and embark on this grand adventure that I was promised across a huge world that was hyped up beyond belief...was Destiny going to be the open world shooter I have been waiting so many years for?? Day 1: I wake up to a large orb floating above earth, and a tiny...uh...Ghost? floating in my face telling me the "Fallen" are coming...Well the screams of the Fallen definitely seemed more terrifying than this tiny little floating robot of light, so I decided to listen to him and allow him to take me on my adventure! Very quickly I found the world was not as big as I had hoped, it was more constricting than I had thought, and not as awesome as the hype had lead me to believe it was going to be...compared to my expectations, which were ginormous, because it was Bungie we were talking about! But they were a split team, no longer 4, but instead 3...The Queen breathing down their necks with deadlines and demands to earn her glimmer, in exchange promises of great reward. They went with what they had. Even in what seemed like a shatter version of the world I wanted, I had hope...among the bashing of Bungie online, and the terrible reviews about no story line, or too little play value...it was Bungie! I could not give up the years of devotion that I had shone them, no they needed me most right now, I needed to be the light in the dark! But were they worthy.... The Dark Below: Day 1: It was here! Finally here! The expansion, and hope that the game would grow into my original expectations! I already had it pre-ordered and was excited about my purchase! Until I realized that half of what I paid my hard earned glimmer for, was given away to the other gardians for free...I paid for two levels, they gave them one for free, I paid for new legendaries, but they gave all of them to the other gardians again for free...I was "comforted" that my money still got me a second level higher, and access to knew exotics...but I already didn't feel that I got what I paid for...where was my extra planet? Many gardians struggled with the same terrors for the many weeks to come. But again...they were Bungie, I held my head high, with bruises on my face, and dirt on my cloths, you still could not destroy my loyalty to Bungie...but by the end of it all...I couldn't take another blow, and I laid in the ashes of Crota whispering, "Bungie...my light is dim...where are you?" And finally we arrived on the day before the house of wolves launch...agian the hype was incredible! Everyone was chattering about it, the reveals were amazing, and I could not wait to get into it. I had been dragged out of the debts of darkness, but was still just a faint light. Day 1: I immediately jumped into the House of Wolves and was met with a new tower, the home of the queen. Entering the reef was an amazing feeling that brought chills to my bones. As I touched down and stepped foot outside my ship, I felt like a kid in the candy store as I ran around as fast as I could to check out all the vendors before I rushed to finish the story line, so that I could try and be the first to finish Prison of Elders! As I rushed through more missions than I expected, the content felt more real than any of Destiny had ever felt before...the voice of, what I used to think was a harsh queen, now pushed me forward and felt...empowering. I even felt remourse that I was pushing through and missing the beauty of the best missions I had played yet! I actually felt like I was moving through a story, with a plot! I loved every minute of it, and cringed every time I had to leave the reefs new social space, because I wanted to stay and take my time to explore this new area, but I had to push forward and defeat the prison, and cash in on the rewards that the queen had waiting there for me. Alas as I defeated the last of the story, and the strike that had a brand new feel to it, I was granted access to what I had been waiting for...Prison of Elders. Me and my friend Chris were a man short, but we decided to continue the race and go for it even though we were sure that all the other 3 man teams had most likely pushed ahead. We knew the lvl 28 prison had match making, so we jumped in and hoped for the best. Sure enough we were matched with someone else, and within dieing, we conqured the Prison...it felt easy...but it was satisfying and we knew we had to continue on! So we jumped on Destinylfg.com and posted that we were looking for members to do lvl 32 with. It took few minutes, but all at once the messages on Xbox live started pouring in, and it wasn't long before we jumped in with a person who actually did not have a mic! Again, even with the lack of communication, and a few deaths, we were able to take down the Prison of Elders with our rag tag team. Now we had the option before us to do lvl 34 or lvl 35...so we rushed back to the Tower, grabbed our new arm pieces from the vendor, ascended our various exotic armor, and headed into the lvl 35 Prison with our newly branded level 33 Gardians! But boy was it tough. We died, countless times, and spend many of rounds running in circles until we could get enough distance between us and the enemy to shoot them without getting reduced to floating orbs. after completing 3 rounds, and reaching wave 3 of round 4 over and over, we decided it was getting late, and that we should call it a day. So we all sulked back to the tower, beaten and bruised, but this time with a twinkle in our eye...ready for the next day :) So to wrap up this long story in a short conclusion. Bungie you did it. You have once again earned my loyalty and redeemed yourself. I love the new content, and it has sparked a new love for the game. Thank you Bungie, you will always be in my roots. - CMDDIR (Twitch.tv/cmd_dir)
