Guardians! Big news at the tower. Today when you first log on to Destiny today, you will be prompted to download a 960MB update that contains a big surprise. Upon arriving in orbit, an event pop-up will appear telling you that none other than Petra Venj, the Captain of the Queen's Guard is back in the tower on assignment for her Majesty the Awoken Queen. Petra looks a bit different than I was expecting. She has not yet received whatever injury prompted not only her need for an eye patch but also her carrying of the large dagger she can't seem to part with in The Reef. She looks like she did during her first visit to the tower way back during the game's launch 8 months ago. But more importantly than her attire, what is she doing here? Petra has bounties for some high ranking members of the House of Wolves. There are some who were once the Queen's followers and have since betrayed her kindness to their Lord Solas upon his return. There are others who simply have an instinct for Violence and pose a threat to the safety of the Queen herself. In any case, specifically the inventory of items available from Petra consists of three categories: Bounties (6), Emblems (2), and Shaders (2). The bounties are marked with a sequence of messages saying, "Available Day 1", "Available Day 2", and so on. Assuming this update was supposed to come out when Deej announced the technical Delay, (Tuesday) it would make sense that they pushed it today and have the first three bounties unlocked already, leaving 4,5,and 6 for Saturday, Sunday and Monday leading up to the HoW release. The bounties themselves are missions to go to a specific part of a planet on patrol and hunt down the target. I did not get a chance to run the Queen's Bounty last time she was here so this was all new to me. After a while I caught on and this is what the process looks like. In the bottom of the screen where game text appears, I saw a message that looked like the one that used to say, "The minions of Crota have started a ritual." Only this time it said, "A pack of Wolves is lurking." Shortly there after a blue-tinged Fallen Skiff appeared bearing the House of Wolves mark on the side. From it dropped several low ranking Fallen, but amongst them was a "Launcher Captain" (or something similar) He was carrying a familiar weapon to anyone who tuned into Bungie's PoE Reveal Stream last week. The over the shoulder explosive launcher that has the ability to Delay detonation for a time. (See linked video of me using it for more) Upon 2 drops of these enemies and 2 launchers being picked up by Guardians (blade of Crota style), a new text appeared. It said, "The Wolves are frenzied." 3 Waves of Dropship action took place thereafter and with each wave the level of difficulty of the enemies increased. By the time the last ship was arriving, it brought with it level 30 Wolves. This is not for the Kinderguardians. Within the onslaught of the final wave came the Wolf the Queen had sent me after. (Think Urzok) He was a tough guy. But the Guardians prevailed, and soon appeared a new text message slightly above the last and donning a timer like the Warlock's "Flame Shield" ability. It said, "Ether Key" and had a 1 minute timer on it. at the same time, back in the game text spot, the conclusion text read, "The Wolves are scattered, a Fallen Treasure waits nearby." It didn't take long for us Guardians to realize what was going on, and we furiously began to look for treasure to use our rapidly degrading key on. We found it and were rewarded handsomely for our trouble. (Nothing crazy, Special Ammo Synth, 250Glimmer, Green armor item.) Wow, what a rush. Onto the next planet for more! But seriously, Bungie release more info into the update from today and here are the highlights: -Keep all Legendary engrams acquired from this point on, until HoW drops. Save them when you get them and you'll get new stuff!! -Passage Coins will drop in the Crucible -The Speaker's item exchange is open -Xur will exchange Coins for Motes -Rewards for completing the first match of the Crucible Daliy -Crucible Rep, gear and mark gains/odds doubled. -Cryptarch will no longer offer materials for Legendary Engrams! YES -Daily Heroics will offer Motes instead of Shards -Faction care-package rewards will no longer offer materials! YES -Commendations are no longer needed to purchase gear and can be converted into +250 Rep gain to any Faction. -BLACK HAMMER IS COMPLETELY FIXED.
