Some People...

Have you ever had that feeling that no matter what you do, you're going to encounter dumb people? Today at work ( I work at Walmart, by the way) I had one of those experiences. I had just finished a carry-out for a woman who was buying a dresser, and I had to take the L-cart to the back room. While on my way to the back room I hear a woman call for me. She asks "Do you work here?" I say "yes". "I need to ask you a question. I found these coffee-makers here, and I wanted to buy them for 1¢." she said (although, it was not a question). I ask if I can see what she is talking about, so she shows me. "You see. These price tags here say 1¢ and I wanted to buy one of these display models." She said. "I don't think we are actually selling them for a penny. I think overnight just set up these tags so they would know which items need re-priced." I replied. She says "...But it says it's one penny. So can I leave here with one? Because, you know, I could sue you for false advertising." My immediate internal reaction to this was "am I being punked?" "First of all, we don't sell display models because most of them don't have any of the components required to work. And second, that tag doesn't even display the name of a product, so you couldn't sue." I, bitchily, replied. "...Can I talk to the store manager?" "No. She left 4 hours ago. But I can get a CSS to come help you." At this point I am almost positive that she is -blam!-ing with me. So I go to get Amanda and tell her what is going on and she is almost as confused as me. We walk back over to the coffee-makers and the woman is in the middle of trying to take one of the display models (which are bolted to the display) and put it in her cart. She immediately asks us why we won't sell it to her. It was at this point that I just say "Amanda, can you take care of this? I've had a long and I need to take this cart back." "Sure. Wish me luck." She replied. This is only one example of my encounters with idiotic customers. I need a new job. TL;DR A woman tries to buy a coffee-maker for 1¢ and tries to threaten a lawsuit.
