Activity improvement thread

There is a TL;DR at the bottom Several people on these forums have complained about destiny's lack of content or interesting content (which I agree there needs to be more, but I'm hooked anyway and enjoy the game) and I think there need to be some improvements to the game that would make it more, interesting to play; [u]PATROL[/u] We can all agree that patrols can be boring, mostly used to test out new guns and complete bounties. There isn't much hype to play partol, however I think a patrol world boss(es) would be awesome, and somewhat fits into the cannon of the universe. I would like these to drop raid quality gear, have learnable mechanics and be very involved, with about 10-12 people necessary to kill them. [u]CRUCIBLE[/u] I just think crucible needs real objective gamemodes, like capture the flag, which could easily be a relic. Private matches would also be cool, but those I think might be coming in 1.2.2, but that might just be me overthinking. [u]RAIDS[/u] Insanity difficulty raids, with [u]new[/u] features; -Extra boss at end for completing insanity -Slightly better than hard mode rewards (bonus attack value or a new red background quality) -Achivement -A new mechanic on [u]every[/u] encounter that messes with original strategy (like Hobgoblins on the top platform on Templar) Post any other ideas below, bumps and comments appreciated! Thanks for reading! TL;DR I have "new" ideas that would make destiny's current activities more fun.

  • This idea is nowhere near as good but I'll put it out there If you wear a full set of faction gear (no exotics) then your band turns exotic temporally. Take a piece of faction gear off and it goes back to the normal legendary version. The special thing about the exotic class item is it gives you x3 zip for whatever clan. Just to make it a bit harder you have to get a special class item only obtainable threw packages from rank ten. Also wearing the class item without full faction gear will not give as much faction rep as the one you buy

    Why does the patrol boss need 10-12 players? That would suggest that the boss is stronger than a raid boss which kind of defeats the purpose of a raid boss. And it drops raid level gear? Patrols need improvement but giving them raid level drops means there's no point to doing raids.

    • [b][u]Patrols[/u][/b]: Agreed, although 10-12 guardians might be a bit much. Certainly 6 since that's the most you can actually take with you at one time in a fire team. As for the drops, I'll leave that for Bungie to deal with. I'm for [u][b]and[/b][/u] against it being Raid quality gear. [b][u]Crucible[/u][/b]: More game modes would be great, I like the idea of having a CTF mode with the 'Flag' being a Relic (Could be Sword [u]or[/u] Shield depending on map). Private Lobbies have been a requested feature since Day One. Keep pushing for them. (You may be overthinking about the patch though, just saying.) [b][u]Raids[/u][/b]: Definitely need to add an extra difficulty. Forcing players to change their strategy is a great idea, but the downside is that players will just come up with one new tactic that works, then stick to it. Look at CE, for Hard they put a Gatekeeper in the room below Death-singer. So players just sit on the ledge, rendering the change pointless. Perhaps adding modifiers to the hardest setting like the Nightfall Strikes do would constantly keep it fresh each week. With a few unique modifiers thrown into the mix (Standing in one spot for more than 20 seconds drains your health, Snipers disabled, that kinda thing). The rewards can be relevant to the current level cap, and operate the same way as it does now (Completing the Hardest setting drops rewards for [u]all[/u] difficulties). [u]Additional Changes:[/u] [b][u]Strikes[/u][/b]: New Strikes can add elements from the Raids into them. Like the Oracles in VoG or the Death-singers Liturgy. Maybe a couple of unique ones too, (Health drains slowly over time, you need to kill the boss/ pull a lever/ get up high to prevent death).

    • Another idea for patrol I'd like to see are high level patrol zones that are in a constant state of "The enemy is moving against each other". They could call those zones "The Front", and it could rotate zones weekly on every planet. Maybe even add weekly modifiers too. Imagine huge numbers of high-level & yellow bar enemies (and vehicles) to the point where it's almost a suicide mission to set foot in there without a full fireteam. It would definitely spice things up when doing bounties, and give a more interesting glimmer farm option than running Exclusion Zone for the millionth time.

      • Patrol could be one of the best modes: -heroic/epic modes -fire team patrol missions: ambushes, recon, supporting other fire teams etc -vehicle/support drops. -fortifications w/heavy weapon nodes Lots of Xp for completions,

        • Love the idea of bosses in patrols - especially ones requiring 10-12 guardians as you suggest. The only problem is that I don't think I've ever seen a concentration of guardians that large in a single patrol zone since the loot cave days.
