Exotic drop rates
What is the quickest way to farm for exotics between crucible and vanguard roc? I want the gjallarhorn but the nightfalls and raids just give me copies of what i have so what would be the next best way to farm? i just finished 38 vanguard roc strikes and got only 1 legendary from a blue engram

3 RepliesEdited by Darches: 4/27/2015 5:51:14 AMIf you get an exotic outside Nightfall/Raid/Xur, it was just a glitch. That's how low the drop rates are. I've played over 500 crucible matches and won 1 exotic... No Land Beyond.

I am seriously under the impression that if you have a weapon you are more likely to get it duped than get one you've never had yet. Look at all the people with 3+ of the same weapons yet still waiting for others. May be worth dismantling all weapons and starting again. I'm not that desperate though. [spoiler]I only need ghorn to complete my exotic set - ain't holding my breath[/spoiler]

2 Repliessomebody has a spreadsheet somewhere. ROC strikes are about a 1% drop rate for exotics. I think raids were between 5-10% ? Can't remember what nightfalls are but my guess would be 5%

Once you get almost all the guns you are bound to get lots of duplicates. For instance: if you only have one exotic left to get, like me (Monte Carlo), you only have about a 1/20 chance of getting it each time you get an exotic, since there are about 20 exotic weapons. So you could expect to see around 20 exotic duplicates before you see the one you don't have. You could get lucky and get it faster or be unlucky and wait even longer before you get it. [spoiler]i know exotic armor factors in as using an exotic chance but adding that in would just make it more confusing[/spoiler]

5 RepliesDo yourself a favor and don't drive yourself mad by looking for something that may or a not drop anytime soon. Just play. Do your raids and nightfalls every week and if you have time run roc strikes or crucible. It's the luck of the draw no matter what you do.

6 RepliesI got jellyhorn from my first VoG run on normal. Which apparently shouldn't have happened. I'm on PS3 so no recording, but check my profile it's there. In all honesty there is no "Best Way" to farm for them. It's seriously just luck. I once had 5 legendary engrams drop in an hour. And then for 2 weeks solid not a single blue engram dropped. But, if I had to take a ventured guess, All of the weekly activities would be a good place to start. And the raids of course. Loot table drop rates aren't static. If it's anything like Other MMO games the percentage of the drop is at any one point in time. Boss loot tables vary slightly, say that Gjallarhorn had a drop rate of 1% and the scale was 1-100. It won't always be a static number. One day it could be listed as 10, the next week 54. Just have to hope and pray the roulette wheel lands on its number.
