Please stop using rockets on Atheon
I realize how mighty gjallarhorn horn, and how cool it is, but I really believe that using sniper rifles works best. With black hammer, I can do about 17k per shot (20k with weapons of light) and I [i]dont have to reload[/i]. If somebody in the fireteam is using rockets, not only do they do [i]less[/i] damage, but it causes Atheon to move around so it is impossible to cause precision damage.
In my most recent raid, we had a guy with gjallarhorn who insisted on using it on Atheon. I didn't really mind, but we had to wipe several times, and in each of those runs, we teleported at least 4 times. Well, one time he died during the first teleport. And since we had 4 people with black hammer, we smashed Atheon in two. So, in essence, gjallarhorn isn't always the best weapon to be using, and Atheon certainly isn't the time to use it
EDIT: So, this post quickly got more attention than I thought it would. It seems that the general consensus is that it doesn't matter what strategy a team uses, as long as THE ENTIRE TEAM IS ON BOARD. Therefore , if you are the only person on the team with gjallarhorn, it's probably best not to use it. If you are the only person on the team that does not have gjallarhorn, get over it.

The only time ghorn is useful is when everyone is using it. If you are the only one with it just snipe it makes it easier for the guys trying to hit his crits.

My friend and I both have the gjallarhorn and the rest has either the HoC or some other heavy. We take him down faster with those than we can with snipers. So as long as they are 3 players with rockets we are going to use them regardless.

1 ReplyAs someone has already posted. If u not able to get out of the portal and have all that time to shoot at atheon before he moves that u problem. Every time I play we get 30 sec and at least 5 of that is him standing still.

The best method I've found (unless EVERYONE has gjallarhorns) is fire 2 gjallarhorn shots while your mid air jumping to centre platform then start blackhammering him. And he wont be running around because you've hit him while he's still frozen. You can have the best of both worlds

13 Repliesif five people are alive and successfully sniping with black hammer they won't kill him in 1 or 2 teleports, plain and simple. With 5 gjallarhorns firing he dies in 1 or 2 teleports every single time

1 ReplyThunderlord is equal to the horn in DPS, and it's affected by Weapons of Light. It does insane damage if you score those crits.

My group took him out in two teleports with 2 GHORN and the rest sniping If you can hit him while he's moving then your not a good shot

Good post. Snipers only and he does not move. Killed him in one more two teleport numerous times this way.

I've never taken 4 teleports that's ridiculous. Ice breakers & weapons of light gets it done in 2 every single time without fail.

7 RepliesI raid with the same group every week. We all use Gjallarhorn. 90% of the time Atheon is killed while the second teleport is in progress before the team even gets back.
