High Level Tournament Game-play Analysis "Invigorate's Skamp"

0:30 - Listen carefully on the communication before the game starts. The players organize where they are going as well as share intel on their opponents to help them play smarter. Communication is key for high level performance. Here we get a sneak peak inside Invigorate's strategy. :30-34 - Here we see a tripmine being thrown at the start of the match presumably to clear anyone off C. :35-41 - Watch how the team moves into Bravo together, again listen to the com. :42-57 - Listen to the comm as Skamp captures Bravo. The intel from his team mates + his awareness gives him an edge allowing him to capture almost untouched. :57-1:06 - Watch the map position and the use of the tripmine to block a path. 1:06-1:28 - Skamp gets taken down by a shotgun and makes the call out to his team mates. Again listen closely to the comm to hear them planning how they want to regain control of the map. Watch this next part closely, Skamp shows us an awesome position through a jump. 1:29-1:43 - Examine how Skamp uses his high ground and the element of surprise to take out a player sniping and open the map up for a push by his team mates. This play allows them to regain control of zone B. 1:44-2:08 - After re-capping B, Skamp gets his super. He tries to use it to shut down the lanes between B and C, but gets shut down by excellent nade placement by the enemy team. 2:09-2:41 - Watch after re-spawning how Skamp immediately regains his composure and checks his flank before pushing back to zone B. Listen to the communication and leadership from invigorate helping them regain key positions on the map. Again, skamp's awareness let's him move around and pick up a kill before getting taken down. 2:42-3:04 - Skamp returns to bravo to prevent an enemy capture using excellent grenade placement. 3:05-3:31 - Even before heavy is announced Skamp turns around and B lines to his heavy in preparation to get it. In doing so he finds an enemy player which he assists his team mate in killing, securing his heavy. **NOTE: In the game-play he saves his heavy for later. With the last update heavy will disappear on a timer. 3:32-3:50 - "I killed myself -blam!-.." Jokes aside listen closely to the comm here as they organize who has heavy and who saved it. Skamp, who saved his goes straight to work capping B, while his team mates use their heavy as cover. 3:51-4:15 - After getting taken down at B, Skamp runs to water tower to lay down cover fire on his team mates pushed up at C. This kind of play is rarely seen at lower levels of play. It requires map awareness and paying attention to where team mates are at all times. Skamp notices someone on his radar and turns to engage. 4:16-4:27 - Another heads up play after taking down one player he spots the second and starts backing up predicting that player to charge, which he does. After losing his advantage Skamp makes the right choice in dropping off high ground and turning it into cover. Abandoning his position he runs to stay alive while he team mates clean up the kill. Got a kill? Check. Stayed alive? Check. 4:28-4:34 - After waiting long enough for most heavy to have been used Skamp grabs his heavy of choice, the Jolders hammer. **Reminder heavy now disappears post-patch. 4:35-5:05 - Watch how Skamp chooses his engagements carefully using his heavy. He nearly escapes death and turned the table using his jolders. 5:06-5:32 - Notice how Skamp switches between hip-fire and ADS in order to keep map awareness. Knowing the right time to hip-fire and aim down is crucial to heavy success. After trying to back down from blade-dancer he lands a few shots, but is ultimately overwhelmed. 5:33-5:47 - Here is another example of both the high level of communication and the response. A team mate calls out a golden gun pushing bravo and the side he was pushing out, giving Skamp the intel needed to pop his own super and gain height + map advantage. 5:48-5:52 - "It's all good skamp," a team mate calmly says after Skamp gets out golden gunned. An example of veteran players quickly realizing even the best laid plans don't always work. 5:53-6:28 - Skamp's patience can be seen as he listens to the call-outs and decides on the best course of action. He decides to push to B, again using his height advantage. The enemy player, now adapted to the situation knew to watch that more closely and takes the edge with a grenade. 6:29-6:38 - "Pull, pull, pull, pull!!!"The team gathers around heavy quickly trying to decide who should grab and who should save. A team mate begins to notice something on radar that made the whole process escalate. Sometimes it's better to just secure it than anything else. 6:38-6:57 - Listening to his team Skamp positions himself to put shots down on an enemy golden gun, preventing him from moving across the map and dealing serious damage. 6:57-7:20 - Using team work and communication Skamp takes down an enemy sniper before eating a rocket. 7:21-7:41 - There's a few interesting notes to make at this point. Again the team decides to push up, as a unit. Skamp uses his tripmine wisely to block a path. Then the team communicates where they are making orbs to make the most of them. 7:42-8:01 - Check how Skamp uses the map to only reveal a small part of his player and picks up an enemy. The map movement using it to his advantage is worth making note of. He doesn't just walk fully into plain sight, but pokes tentatively. 8:02-8:12 - Wait you can get up here? Another awesome use of his jump to position on high ground and give himself the element of surprise. 8:13-8:25 - Skamp pops his golden gun and goes to work to take down enemy heavy. However, this time it looks like Skamp isn't the only sneaky beaver. An enemy using high ground snuck behind him was able to team shot him before Skamp could kill two of their heavies. 8:26-8:34 - Knowing he just took out some of the enemies heavy, Skamp decides to pick up his that he saved from earlier. 8:35-8:48 - Moving up with his heavy Skamp hears call outs about an enemy blade dancer. Using his heavy Skamp is able to respond to the call-out and neutralize the threat. 8:49-8:55 - Using his excellent nade placement he does significant damage to a player on B. With his positioning he manages to barely escape a rocket blast and take down the enemy player with his own heavy. 8:56-9:02 - Skamp gets taken down by an enemy Blade Dancer, using his movements to avoid being shot by Skamp's heavy. 9:03-9:42 - Watch skamp as he listens patiently and watches line of sights before setting up for a heavy. This patient game-play reflects the high level of teamwork and play. 9:43-9:56 - AWARENESS. The team first decides to attempt recapturing B, but then notices the time remaining in the game. Being tournament game-play they notice their lead and decide either way can pull in a win. 9:57-10:04 - Using himself as bait listen as Skamp tries to bait enemies in. Knowing the time is getting low and the enemy team needs to push to regain the lead is important here. 10:05-10:26 - Here it comes.. The enemy uses a blade dancer to initate the push for B. They sweep in together, but a rocket tackles their blade dancer. Pushing together they are able to push up on Bravo. Skamp makes call outs to identify their positions for his team mates. 10:27-10:58 - Skamp grabs his heavy and decides to try and set-up a flank. 10:59-11:16 - "...I just wrecked..." Skamp's flank works perfectly catching multiple enemies off-guard mowing them down with his Jolder's. 11:17-11:32 - The Best Around. Skamp pops his last golden gun of the game knowing it is all, but won. He shoots the final nail in the coffin with his super securing victory. 11:33-The end of the match. Listen has a humble team mate says he isn't that good at control, but is quickly reassured he's doing fine. Keeping the positive mindset for going into the next game.

  • Haha thanks for that last paragraph, but i was for sure holding these guys back as i was a sub for there original 6th player. Invigorate wouldve won a lot more smoothly had it been there normal 6th man. Im more of a skirmish player, the pace is a lot different
