T4R.
This is 2015, games from 20 years ago all ran at 60-120 FPS and they were far less superior graphical wise. Early PS2/Xbox 360 games were 60FPS. So why is 30 still acceptable on "NEXT GEN" consoles with a lot more VRam and hardware capabilities.

The same reason you can have fun on an 8 bit game without caring about graphics or performance.

Eh, I'll just play it on PC.

Console peasants and children buying up Sony and Microsoft's latest shit platters in particular.

Edited by BritLemon: 4/18/2015 12:45:06 PMThere are very very few native 1080p 360 games. Pretty much every 7th gen game a few years into its life were 720p upscaled. Before that they weren't even native 720p. Many PS2 games could support 16:9 aspect ratio, but that's it. The games weren't natively rendered at a HD resolution. One of the reasons many current gen (8th) games aren't 1080p @60fps is because the hardware simply isn't as powerful as Sony/MS would like you to think. They were outdated before they even released. And this time around there's no weird hardware or architecture for devs to figure out. 8th gen use x86 architecture, and have pretty basic hardware. They pretty much know how they work from the get go. So basically, it's a one or the other scenario for many games this gen.

It's a more cinematic experience.
-
Screw that, I want to know why this shit isn't 32v32.
-
Well some people value gameplay over visuals. And as long as there are no drastic drop in frame rate I could careless if a good game runs at 30 or 60 fps.
-
Companies keep taking short cuts to release broken / misleading products and get paid handsomely for it. If companies really need to save all the money they can for a sequel already in the works before the first game is out, they should just use kikstarter now instead of destroying a prized developers reputation.

There isn't actually a lot of VRAM in those machines. Part of the problem too is they are running really bad APU's which have since been improved upon substantially. Think of it like this too. A $350 (equivalent of a ps4) computer can't output 1080p 60fps either.

because fun is more important than snobbery.... i've literally modded skyrim and fallout into sheer laggy crazy hilariousness ... i've got everything except an ENB because i'm too lazy to do it...
-
Because 'next-gen' consoles are not next-gen. They are last-gen PCs.
-
My tv only goes to 720
-
As long as it isnt awful, its fine. Remember skyrim? Game looked awful, but people loved it, me included.
-
Fps matters to a point. But graphics dont matter.
-
Did you just state ps2 achieved 1080p gaming software lmao????
-
Err.. DICE is actively targeting 60fps for consoles. And we have no official word on resolutions yet, probably 1080p on PS4 and 900p on Xbone. 720p is definitely a placeholder. Games don't release at that resolution anymore
-
Because gaming isn't all about graphics for some people
-
Why bitch about graphics? Go get a PC if you care about graphics. Everything nowadays looks beautiful IMO. Sure games run much smoother at 60fps, but does it really matter that much? I thought video games were about having fun, not who has the prettiest looking virtual dick?
-
60 frames doesn't mean squat if gameplay isn't any good.
-
It's a console. Don't expect much. It was probably outdated hardware a month or two after they made the thing anyways.
-
I only notice resolution and fps difference when in front of my gaming rig. On console, I can't be bothered to care.
-
I find it funny how people in this thread are commenting gameplay>graphics. A higher fps does improve gameplay as it's smoother and more responsive.
-
That's because the majority(people that don't use forums and such) are honestly clueless about a lot of shit. They don't research games, don't know and couldn't tell you the difference between 30/60 FPS, play games for less than 2 hours a day, and the list goes on and on. The things the average person here knows goes right over the head of the average gamer.
-
I dunno. I love higher frame rates. With Halo mcc it feels like.. Playing it feels more real? How do you say that? It feels like that place exists. :p
-
Can't tell the difference on my 19 inch black and white Zenith t.v.
-
30 fps at 720p is all I need.
