Atlas Kazan Grimoire

-ATLAS KAZAN- Atlas Kazan was born on Venus. His Mother and Father raised him on what we now know as 'The Shattered Coast'. Atlas’ family history is, in itself, Legend. His ancestors fought in many of the Great Wars of our time. Legends say one of his oldest ancestors was a highly esteemed Nordic King. There is no doubt that the Kazan’s were gifted with unquestionable strength and nobility. When Mars fell, the people of Venus knew that it was only imminent; The Darkness would come their way as well. Word was that The Traveller was re-animating bodies of long lost souls- using them to fight The Darkness- to push it back; gifting them with the Light of The Traveller itself... But nowhere did it say that civilians were incapable of signing up for the fight. Besides, when you put an Undead Light-bearer up against a Nord- the Nord will win. The Nord will always win Atlas stood side many Guardians during The Battle of Venus. No one is certain to say how many confluxes Kazan destroyed- how many Minotaurs he turned to scrap metal; but one thing is certain, and that is that we did not prevail. Setback after setback- Atlas watched The Shattered Coast become what it is now. Friends and families torn apart- turned into an unknown matter- perhaps lost in time. Mission priorities changed- Guardians were ordered to save civilians at all costs. Atlas escorted his family and many others to The Archive, in hopes of surviving long enough to form an escape plan, but time is never no our side. Countless Vex units followed closely, and left Atlas with no choice but to fight. In hopes of preserving the life of the innocent, Atlas sealed the doors of The Archive shut, and faced the Vex. He did not prevail. Perhaps The Traveller saw what Kazan was capable of, or perhaps this Ghost was lost- but whatever the case may be, Kazan was in fact, re-animated as a wielder of Light. He was brought before The Speaker with many questions at hand. The first of many being "What happened to Venus?" But there was no time for answers now. The battle was brought to Earth- and Kazan was needed to help defend the fronts of the city. Atlas Kazan actively fought alongside Lord Saladin during the Battle of The Six Fronts (Atlas being on The First Front). Although we won The Battle of The Six Fronts- Atlas came to learn that we did not manage to save Venus. The Vex managed to metastasize themselves into the core of Venus, destroying any remaining relics of our Golden Age. Atlas was offered to join Lord Saladin, along with Radagast, Timur, Jolder, and the other Legendary Guardians, to fight again, and train Guardians for the oncoming battles- but after learning about the mass genocide that the Vex held on Venus, Atlas declined- he left Earth to return to Venus. What he found was to be expected... and how he reacted, was just the same. Ever since Atlas returned from Venus, he hasn't spoken much. But then again- his actions began to speak louder than his words. Atlas single-handedly destroyed some of the most high priority Vex Mind targets the worlds have ever seen. "He never tells anyone either. He just- does it. Able-bodied Guardians arrive to fight the target and its just- gone... Nothing but scrap metal and goo." Atlas remains rather illusive, spending much of his time on Venus. Guardians report sightings of Kazan in the jungles of Venus, fighting off any Vex he finds. One report tells of a Guardian witnessing Kazan fighting of an entire unit of Vex with his bare hands. “There was blood pouring from his knuckles- and Vex all around him, but I never saw his fists hesitate- it's like he couldn't feel. I watched him rip a Core right from a Hobgoblin's stomach- it made my stomach hurt!" Other reports say Atlas has been found sitting inside the entryway of The Archive. “It’s always the same spot... right next to those two corpses. Those two skeletons holding each other. Do you think he- he knew them? Whatever the case may be- when he's not out fighting the good fight- he sure seems desolate.” Kazan still comes to The Tower, keeping his eye out for any Vex Mind targets. He hasn’t spoken much since The Collapse on Venus, “... mostly mumbles to himself.” But you'll know him when you see him- he has that indistinguishable scent of oil and metal- and his armor is as cold and black as The Hellmouth itself. If you come across this “Guardian”, make sure your actions speak louder than your words.
