Should Commendations be Removed?
Commendations currently occupy 1 of 4 [i]potential[/i] rewards in a package (with most packages containing only 2-3 rewards) this removes a massive opportunity to receive a legendary weapon, which is otherwise unattainable, instead giving players a useless piece of crap with which to purchase another useless piece of crap.
On top of that, commendations not only make it incredibly hard to obtain a large chunk of the legendary weapons present in the game, they also add to Destiny's growing monotony, because everyone is forced into the same roll of the weapons available, because that's the version for sale.
[i][b]A few users have suggested an awesome use for commendations: Instead of being a second currency, which just over-complicates things, commendations could be used to purchase a re-roll on a piece of legendary gear. Exactly the same method used for iron banner re-rolls, just with a different currency and item. I think this is a great idea, if you agree please say so below![/b][/i]
[spoiler]There are seriously newer players who have no idea that factions have more than 4 weapons. This is just wrong.[/spoiler]

1 ReplyI wish you could trade resources. For example, Commendations swapped for Radient shards / energy and vice versa. Radient shards for Ascendant materials. If needs be, put a level barrier on them. I am just short of Level 32 and have huge numbers of materials I have no use for and no way of earning those I need to level up weapons armour I need. I don't do Raids very often as there is no in game match making so I tend to only solo the lamps and VoG I dont tend to bother with.

1 Reply66 in my vault doing nothing, if they are to stay in the game then Bungie should make a use for them, I don't need vendor armour and certainly don't need the weapons anymore, but that's not saying that some people don't, so make them a random drop

3 RepliesBefore a guardian has a full set of legendary armor, commendations serve a purpose: 1. Needed to get certain armor/weapons from Vanguard and Crucible vendors 2. Force players to switch back and forth between Vanguard and Faction to get both vanguard and faction gear/weapons. Once you have a full set of legendary armor, it becomes much less important, as by this point players are more focused on getting exotic gear and rely on random drops rather than buying gear. Both issues would be resolved if vendor gear and their perks rotated. Most players would be willing to repurchase a legendary weapon to get the right perks (IMHO).

Not a bad idea. But that would be too easy. If anything, make them like Faction Shaders; rare and difficult to come by. These types of things should not be easy to obtain.

2 RepliesI'm not a Bungie Employee, but commendations have always somewhat confused me. If it was too easy for players to get the marks necessary to get Vanguard / Crucible / Faction armor and weapons, then why not mess with the mark economy? Adding an additional currency type adds complexity, causes confusion for new players , and really doesn't even properly gate anything. In the time it takes to earn a commendation, you earn more than enough Marks to buy anything you want, so what's the point of marks? Giving commendations a greater purpose, or giving marks a greater purpose, or some combination thereof would go a long ways towards helping I think.

Keep them, have them be separate from the roll for the upgrade package, use them to reroll perks.

14 RepliesI can't even tell you the last time I bought anything from a vendor. I have so many marks and commendations that served no actual use other than a way to slow player progression that didn't even work.
