I'm nowhere close to raid level, but when I'm there, do you have any general or specific advice for first time raiders?
edit: I'm on Xbox 1, GT same as name

Tell people in advance that you are a raid Virgin there is a Sherpa group that helps people through raids. Also some people will help you through a raid (myself included) if you are patient and want to have fun.
-
Watch them on Youtube, join a clan and practice staying alive lol.
-
Use the bathroom before raiding.
-
If you are XBox1 and online today, look me up GT: StrainedDig4. Happy to get you to lvl 20+. Buy some armor and will get you through VOG & Crota on normal. We help anyone interested in having fun. No obligation except to enjoy the game you already spent good $$ on and have fun!

Best thing to do is, Stay alive. As corny as it sounds, MANY players struggle with staying alive during raids. If you are getting hit hard, get the -blam!- out od there and hide. Tell someone so they can cover for you.

What system are you on?

Edited by knocknock: 4/8/2015 10:54:35 PMYou doing a raid with your level 17? Edit: didn't see where you stated you weren't ready. When you are, just let people know you have no experience and that you need help with your first raid. You'll get plenty of people to help.

Thanks Obama

You on ps4? Add flexo95 and I'll run the vog with you when you're Lvl 25, I've ran a 23 before but he did nothing but die so it won't be enjoyable until at least 25, I did my first raid at 27. Just jump in head first and pretend you know what you're doing :P you'll pick it up after a few goes

Have fun, don't raid with assholes, max your weapons and have lots of heavy ammo. If you have questions just ask instead of assuming. Can I step in that green stuff? Lol
-
If you do vault of glass stay right by someone who knows where to go. Easy to get lost there your first time through. Have a mic. Tell people you are new to the raid. Max your weapons and armor as much as you can. Even without energies your weapons should be over 300 attack.
-
Def don't die. Kill stuff. Be awesome.
-
Don't die.
-
1.Watch videos. 2.But when you get into a raid don't say "you got this". Auto kicked. 3.after watching videos still ask questions 4. Get a mic
-
Do it with mates or look for a clan and explain your situation, loads looking to help first timers. If your on ps4 feel free to add.
-
1. Don't die 2. Seriously don't die 3. Why is that not dead Heard this somewhere and forgot where...good advice for raids though...

Listen to the experienced ppl
-
Study it on YouTube. you can also learn a lot just from reading through comments in the forum but you have to sift through opinions. Have your weapons and armor maxed, go in with nothing below legendary in armor and weapons. If not playing with people you know, try to get a guage on their level of patience, listen to what experienced players tell you.

Neva go full retard, I mean neva.
-
Go to youtube and watch a raid runthrough to learn the mechanics of the raid and listen to the tips and tricks of the fraid, also learn how to cheese it because most of the time your raid team will cheese it.

Don't do raids with squeakers
-
Level up defender not striker
-
Wear a condom.

Obvious advice is obvious: buy a headset. nothing more frustrating than not being able to communicate with a fireteam member when you're in the thick of it. Plus, Destiny's sounds and music are 3000x better on stereo headphones, (unless you have the Mercedes Benz of sound systems). Less obvious advice: Consider getting your feet wet with Nightfalls. Now, I know you can do VoG before you hit 30, and thus could do it before you're able to complete a NF, but Nightfalls tend to be done with actually fireteam communication via mics, if only because there's no in-game matchmaking. Try to strike up a conversation over voice chat, maybe even drop a mention of the fact that you've never raided before. Lol, just last week I ran a NF with a guy who had never done a raid before, and I immediately offered to show him the ropes. Most people won't mind the fact that you've never done the raid before... sometimes it's actually MORE interesting for veteran raiders to get a chance to show a 'raid-virgin' how everything works... instead of just going through the motions with the same group of guys over and over. On that same note, IMO you'll have much better luck finding a group of players willing to teach you how to raid if they're older players (college and older for best results, altho there are some super-chill high schoolers out there, ngl). Enjoy yourself! Don't let yourself get bullied or talked down to, my advice if that ever happens is to just leave, it's so much easier to find a better set of people than put up with bullshit. That said, don't be afraid to laugh at yourself, and have fun. AND BE HONEST. Don't pretend to know something you don't. Happy raiding! I dunno if you're on xb1, but I can teach you a few things when you feel ready. GT same as above :3
