As everyone knows one of the gripes is that all gear below light level 36 just gets dismantled because it will not get you to level 32. this also causes a common subject of aggravation and that is every one looks exactly the same once they hit level 32. a similar solution would be to add a loot drop to the raids (only when you complete the raid on hard by beating the final boss will the raid token drop) this raid token allows you to upgrade any piece of gear in the game to raid equivalent eg light level 36. it also resets the upgrade tree so it must be upgraded like the actual raid gear. it will add hours more game play and content when you think of it because the content (gear) that is already there is overlook and gathers dust because there is no reason to use it.
EDIT: post your reason for you choice if you like as it could bring more insight to the idea

Edited by Nebulous Knight: 4/8/2015 12:13:32 AMCheck out my Topic, I also have a solution for this problem. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/114106493/0/0

I think this is a great idea. The fact that everyone looks identical is exactly the reason I don't want the raid gear, even if it would put me up a couple levels. Plus, my current warlock coat looks so much better than the weird dead-gothic styling of the new stuff so I'm not willing to swap anyway. It does sound like too much work for Bungie though. Maybe for HoW they should just add in a couple of alternate raid sets so you have a bit more choice. But that also means extra work, so it'll probably never happen either.
-
Not bad, but I think a better idea would be to collect tokens to trade to vendors for raid gear. This would make getting that one weapon that you still need a lot easier, and take care of the people getting a massive amount of 1 raid weapon over and over (Swordbreaker anyone?). However, this idea is a fairly well thought out idea.

I like the idea and the concept. I think it would create issues with gear in the current state of the game and would require a very lengthy development and patch.
-
Why hard mode?
-
Reskinning would be better. You got the raid helmet? Now you can make this vendor helm with 36 light. Same would apply to all the armor pieces.
-
Idk know about this exactly, but they definitely should do something similar. I refuse to wear the raid gear, it looks like shit. I just like my faction gear more you know
-
This is a great idea and allows for armors we love to be used
-
Just give us transmog please. No more grind, no more currencies. Keep it simple stupid Bungie. It's purely an aesthetic request. It shouldn't be complicated.
-
Token yes, grind no. If you're doing hard mode, you've likely managed to get and level up a few pieces of raid gear, and if you are a hardcore prepper, and fairly lucky, you've got a full set of raid armor and have it fully upgraded to reach the level cap for hard mode. At that point, having to grind again is almost more of a punishment than a reward.
-
yes we need a token system so we can get the gear we need. not run the same raid 35 times for a helmet that never drops BS. i really would love to see a reward system that rewards us for the time we put in.
-
I like this idea but I think the tokens should only be able to be squired at like a 5-10% drop rate and ony from the highest level raid at that time. I.E. You have to beat crota hard for a chance to get this token. Once HoW comes out you have to beat it on hard to get these tokens. That would be ballin

If any change is made they will probably just have you upgrade the raid armor in the same way exotics are upgraded now. Personally I would like a way to upgrade rare gear too because some of them looked pretty cool. We can upgrade Sparrows from rare to legendary so why not do the same for armor?
-
Anything to keep the entire game relevant is great in my book. I think they should jeep coming out with higher levels of the old raids as they go.
-
Great idea. I'd love to see something like this implemented some time after HoW. Bumptastic!
-
No what they need to do is NOT make the past raids pointless as soon as the next one comes out, like they did to the VoG and the Crota raid is probably gonna be pointless too whenever The House of Wolves comes out. Also, I think it would've been a great idea if they made it where you had to be lvl 30 in order to buy lvl 31 armor or to enter the Crotas End raid at all. That way people would still have to play the VoG. Idk but they should do something about it...something differently. Its complete bullshit that we played the VoG for hours and did it multiple times and grinded the hell out of it to reach lvl 30 and then they just decide to make lvl 31 armor that anyone can just simply buy and all that work and gameplay was for nothing...and you can't upgrade VoG armor or weapons sooo...wtf bungie. It was borderline false advertising when the hunter in that one video said "If you wanna level up, you gotta go below."

I like your overall idea but,
it will add hours more game play and content when you think of it because the content (gear) that is already there is overlook and gathers dust because there is no reason to use it.
shouldn't be a selling point. The pointless grind of this game is what is making me hate it.
-
I could dig it, but maybe put restrictions to which armor piece it is, so at least then you are still looking for a certain kind
-
I could see this as a neat thing to do. At least you could look slightly different from everyone else.
-
Awesome idea bro
-
Super bump..
-
-
Not a bad idea.
-
If this is to be implemented, then I suggest that raid gear have "exotic" set bonuses when equipped. Similar to the bonus structure of set gear in Diablo. That would make raid gear something to strive for again
-
That's brilliant.
