A discussion about Omolon
OK, so apparently, Omolon is the manufacturer of the Hard Light. But I've noticed something interesting...
There are also a few shotguns that have the same style, colors and even symbols as the Hard Light. Check this out:

Look at the Hard Light, you'll see the small symbol on it as the one on the shotguns. It's the small white teardrop shape with the circle in it: http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20141217212816/destinypedia/images/5/55/Hard_Light.jpg
The only difference I've noticed is the small pattern of squares. It's on the Hard Light and a few other weapons, ones which don't have the teardrop or the similar color and design scheme. I'm not sure what the squares are for exactly... Just a design I'm guessing.
So, if Omolon actually makes these weapons, why aren't they Legendary? Also, Why are there no matching Auto Rifles, Machine Guns or Rocket Launchers? I love my Hard Light and I love the matching shotguns, but I'd love to see more from this manufacturer in the same style as it is now. I hope House of Wolves will have something to offer that matches, I'd love to have a matching collection.
I'd also like to see the weapons manufacturers play a more prominent role in Destiny, like they do in Borderlands, where we learn more about them and so forth. Maybe even have their logo and name on the gun screen...

A few months later and it looks like you got your wish. Weapon manufacturers are going to play a more prominent part in the new DLC. I'm excited to see that Omolon makes the Hard Light! I really like their design aesthetics.

The rare symbol is on a 45 degree angle, the Hardlight on 0 degrees

Bro SUROS makes a few rares aside from the regime. Shotguns from what I've seen.

I'm really glad to see there are still a couple of sensible topics like this on the forums. Tex Mechanica supposedly made the Last Word. I've also seen the symbol for Daito on the tower which leads me to believe that Daito had a hand in building upon the city.

1 ReplyAlmost every weapon in the game has that symbol, man. Look at every legendary scout rifle (even crucible and vanguard). It isn't the manufacturing symbol.

I agree with you that I too would love to see the manufacturers play a much more decisive role in the Destiny world, even if they went so far to have vendors for each in the tower where you could buy their weapons and logoed accessories. For some time, I thought too that the distinct tear drop logo was Omolon's signature. So, I have this running theory that the weapons sold by the Vanguard and Crucible Quartermasters are weapons made by these manufacturers and then customized by the Vanguard and Crucible to a certain look and specs. Hardlight was made up of better equipment scavenged from the Golden Age and all that junk. Just like Suros Regime was.
