First Vault of Glass
Did my first vog. Didn't finish it. It's was horrible and I had no idea what was going on. A big thanks to the person who offered to help. Too bad I felt like an idiot because of some jerk who "gave us one more try" and left to find "people worth his time". Maybe one day I'll manage to get through it. Looks like today is not that day.
Edit: I really did not expect much of a response here. I appreciate all of the advice and offers to help. I'm on PS4 I should have said that in the original post so people wouldn't have to ask.

3 RepliesAdd Coxynator - we've taken a few rookies through. Doesn't matter if we wipe a bunch, so long as you listen when we explain what is happening and what your part in it will be, and then try your best to do your bit. We do it for fun not "clear it as quickly as possible".

1 ReplySorry you had a tough first experience. Youtube videos can carry you only so far – there’s nothing like first hand experience – though I do recommend you spend some time watching a run through or two. Videos explaining certain strats can also be very valuable if you run into situations when you have no idea what everyone is trying to do. Personally, I'll give a team half a dozen tries on any one particular area in normal VOG (Atheon excepted). If we haven't cleared the Templar, Gorgons, or the Gatekeeper at that point, then it probably won’t happen anytime soon. Some people just don’t have time to run it for hours. You’re only an idiot if: a) you act like a jerk, b) you don’t keep making an effort, because the raids are tons of fun.

1 ReplyHad a horrible first attempt at the vault of glass. I posted I was looking for a party and got a friend request. I told the guys again I had never run the raid before and they said that was fine. They were going through so quick I couldn't keep up weren't explaining anything and I quit after a few minutes bc I didn't know where to go. A few days later I ran Crota nm which was only my third or fourth full run with a great team. After we finished Crota they asked if anyone wanted to do they vault. I spoke up and said I had never tried it before but if they didn't mind showing me how to run the raid I would like to give it a shot. We started the raid and they took the time to explain everything to everyone and made sure everyone kept up on some of the confusing parts. Let everyone try different parts and using the relic. It was really fun. We never beat atheon but it was one of the most fun raiding experiences I have had yet. I'm glad there are people willing to help others that may not have raided much. I was honestly put off in the vault bc of how poorly it went with my first group but def want to try to take atheon down now!

People are jerks and especially are looking to 'one and done' it. Find a clan or something to make it easier with nicer people.

Sorry to hear your first experience was with a douche bag. My first time was my whole fire teams first with no video guidance was a blast took us four hours to get to gate keepers and we couldn't beat it. I've helped run people through many times have run in with my fair share of jerks I usually try being fire team leader so I can't boot the unsavoury bastards
