Are there any destiny players left who play to have fun and actually shoot stuff as a team? When I look to raid I want to have fun, make alien heads explode and kill some time. Not just sit there and stare at my ghost for 10 minutes because a hunter is soloing the abyss or warlocks are going to self rez after everything despawns. No one I meet is even willing to try the bridge on crota anymore and it's driving me nuts. Not even on Normal!! People have this game all twisted, getting to 32 is fine, having all the raid guns... Great. But is there anyone left who plays for fun... Or is the end goal all that matters?
Edit: <<< wasn't going to do this but the quote in the inferno update is just perfect...
“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in that grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.” - Theodore Roosevelt Jr.

I understand, I was doing crota normal earlier today, and before we got into the game, two of the dudes were asking me to solo the lamps, as easy as it is for me, I dont find alot of fun out of it

Crota's End has a number of design flaws that aren't related so much to the cheese maneuvers. The Bridge, as designed to be played, is the funnest part of the Raid. I do feel your pain on that matter, but the rest of the Raid? The Abyss is a dark, visually boring joke that certainly has its tension, but the Weight of Darkness and the Lamps could be totally excised from the experience of the Abyss and it would be ten times better as a swarm brawl than trying to outrun the hoard in the dark. How do we actually play, though? Go from lamp to lamp, fighting as little as we can get away with, until we get to the end and hop on a rock, then wait for an Ogre to show up to eat our waiting rockets and Ice Breaker shots. Run across a bridge into light that somehow leads to the next area. Then, the bridge, which is seriously great and the only part of the Raid that's worth a damn. Fighting Ir Yut is easily the weakest part of the whole Raid, especially on Hard where everything is a Major and eats bullets like Skittles. What do we do? We avoid as many of them as possible; we gamble on running past them because fighting them takes too much time. They're not a fair fight. Every time I play, this part with Ir Yut turns into Draw Out the Wizards, Kill the Wizards, Go In and Take Out the Shrieker and Hope the OP Knights Don't One-Hit-Kill You, then whoever is left alive goes on a Kamikaze bumrush into the intestines of the beast, striking for Ir Yut as she begins her stupid Death Song that puts a time limit on the entire affair. Hopefully two things happen: 1) Ir Yut dies, and 2) at least ONE person survives to very slowly take out the surviving OP mobs. It's totally -blam!-ing boring and tedious and I feel terrible for whoever has to solo down the hoard of Majors after Ir Yut is smeared into paste with rockets and Supers. Then, the fight with Crota himself? This is easily the worst boss fight in gaming history. Let's just go ahead and say this starts off typically with people "glitching" up complimentary ammunition that the game provides you because it doesn't want to send you into battle empty-handed. If you grouped up with LFG guys, you have a great chance of hearing someone complain about "glitching" up some Heavy Ammo and calling it stupid or whatever, like dropping 950 glimmer per Heavy Ammo Synth is the smart way to go. After the opening rush and careful Orb harvesting, it's out to the "real" fight. Here we have the Boomers from Normal Mode now promoted in rank to Majors, so taking them out is no longer an option. What do we do? Avoid them entirely like the rest of the Raid has been teaching us to do. There's no Chalice to recover health this time, just because, but if you've played Hard Mode you know how much the Chalice doesn't matter when you're literally avoiding every bit of conflict you can - at this point you're seriously only going to shoot at Swordbearers, Thralls when you miss shots at the Swordbearers, Ogres, and Crota's stupid shield. In Hard Mode, you're going to wait for your Swordsman to avoid as much conflict as possible by going invisible, wait for his signal, then blast down Crota's stupid shield with rockets so he can become invulnerable to every goddamned weapon except for one of the swords typically carried by his own troops, carried by your invisible buddy. Thwack, thwack, thwam - Crota gets up, your buddy drops the sword, melees Crota to go invisible, picks up the sword, and the rest of the fireteam blasts Crota's stupid shield again with rockets so the Invisible Swordsman can hack him a few more times, then run away. Rinse, repeat, go into one of the Ogre rooms to get the drop on an add, take out his twin, then back to the regular rocket-and-sword action for a bit until Crota flips out and starts throwing Oversouls at your party over and -blam!-ing over again to just obliterate you, just because. Then you get a No Land Beyond and then go to orbit. -blam!- Crota's End.

Fun is a relative term my friend. One persons love for facing a challenge straight on and conquering it within the rules is just the same as another persons fun breaking the rules to find their own way. You good sir, need to find dedicated and like minded individuals to have your kind of fun with. It's tough, but possible.

Bruh You wanna kill alien shit? play VOG ! You hate cheeses and cheesers ? Play VOG! End goal don't matter ? Play VOG ! You tired playing with noobs playing an easy raid? Play God damn VOG!

Our clan recently have had some great fun speed running normal crota completely legit multiple times, attempting to beat our clan record. Basically: Running lamps as a group, if anyone died everyone stopped, revived, then ran as a group again. Getting everyone across the bridge while forming the bridge. No despawning/self-rezzing/jumping to the top of the towers and no crossing the bridge without it being formed. Killing the death singer and all/most adds before touching the crystal to summon crota. No wiping to get rid of them. And then killing crota... Really recommend it to other clans, it's a lot of fun when trying it with people you enjoy raiding with.

Edited by Killer: 3/31/2015 8:47:19 AMApologies for double post. App being weird.
-
As far as I'm concerned, the only illegitimate things people do are despawning enemies, glitching out of the map, and freezing enemies. Anything else is just a different way of beating it
-
Sometimes we have to. Unfortunately, I don't have the patience to do the bridge checkpoint 19 times because some aren't capable of controlling a pillar. I wish I did every time without "cheesing," but we're a few and far between bunch
-
as a Xmas noob (level 30 Warlock - just now starting new characters), i have found it difficult to get into raiding. either i get the....hey man dont think you will be able to do this - as i have no Ghorn....or its full of 14 year olds talking about how much they want to do things with their D!cks. and then i am a scrub cos i need to learn how to do the raid. only so much you can oick up from you tube and reddit etc. i have had a couple of raids where people have been really good and taken me through but most people are not interested in leading the newer players through. we all started out once but some of us didnt get destiny till recently. LFG sites are good and got some decent playing, but mostly on strikes and leveling up second charcters - as soon as you get into a raid party, your almost written off before you fire your first shot
-
I wish there were more people out there who actually like doing things legit and for fun. What console are you on?
-
I've honestly never done it legit. Mainly because every one I match up with always wants to cheese. I would love to do it legit with a good group of raiders.
-
Signed. When I am Raiding with the Clan it is legit all the way, precisely because of the reasons you point out. With randoms ppl almost always want to cheese. Annoying, yes. But this also shows how poorly CE has been designed.
-
I would much rather do everything legit. The issue is, in a raid with randoms, nobody knows how to do the bridge legit. Or they'll complain about doing it legit and I just don't care enough to argue with 5 people who want to stare at a ghost and be carried. The bridge legit is actually fun, the cheese way is stupid as shit and boring.
-
Legit raiders are an endangered species
-
Legit raiders assemble! Theres should be a clan called legit raiders, that would be amazing.
-
ask my friends to do bridge legit yesterday they laughed and proceeded to continue their cheese haven't done it legit in so long, thought itd be fun
-
Is there anyone who plays for fun? Sure dude lets do bridge legit After Ok cheese is good, this is not -blam!-ing worth it. Thrall collaterals are more entertaining
-
I enjoy doin atheon the most
-
I agree. The most fun I have had was doing raids all the way through, legit, with a team shooting away at everything. Yes i have cheesed, no denying that. However, when I get those good groups together that just wants to man mode it, I always end up having a memorable experience and a new friend to add to my psn friends list. I don't find too many of those when searching on lfgs though.
-
Add me on xbox if you want to do the raids legit. I enjoy just playing. Sometimes go into normal and help kindergaurdians with raids lol!
-
Legit only here, it is also one of 3 things thatll get you kicked from my clan.
-
I want to start a xb1 clan of people who enjoy doing things legit everytime. Anyone in?
-
Sucks but it's true, that's the reason I help randoms less, everybody just wants to cheese...
-
All my group does is do it legit
-
I love doing the bridge on normal. On hard we try until we fail then have the backup locks revive but yes, we still exist.
-
Are you on XB1 cuz I really want to do the raids but nobody will run with me (I'm a 30 Hunter with no ghorn) and you sound like a person I would enjoy doing a raid with lol
