Yes, Bungie, the community, and any hobo curious enough to check can tell if you ever unlocked a weapon. No, Bungie will not help you or anyone else even if you are telling the truth. It is precisely because of liars that Bungie can't afford to donate "lost" weapons. Bungie and the community knows that weapons do disappear, it happens. That's the difficulty of storing all the game data online instead of on the hard-drive. Even if you do lose something, it isn't worth wasting your time posting it.
