Blink Too Quick to Cool Down in PvP

As it states the cool down to blink in PvP feels very broken. When a player can blink straight down a long hallway (for instance, from the U-ramp on Firebase to B flag) while being able to negate all damage by using blink, something is broken. Blink in general doesn't sit well with me because I believe that being able to dodge supers, rockets, and all forms of incoming damage doesn't work in competitive play. And since I don't know anyone who actually uses blink in PvE since it is nearly impossible to platform with it, blink is a broken PvP ability. I can see how it might have been intended to be used by the player who wants to stay close-quarters and gives them the ability to close distances safely, but in the current meta a blinking player just spams the jump button and almost before their feet hit the ground blink is ready to go again, moving them across the map without ever really running. I would like to see the distance a player can blink be reduced, but I think a good start would be to extend the cool down period of blink. Just enough so that a player has to close the distance manually before doing the final blink, or if they miss judge distances or hit their heads on the ceiling they have to engage in some way before being able to close in further or make a blinking retreat. If the argument for blink is that is slightly disorienting to use and therefore a skill based ability, you apparently have never been in a fight with a blink-spamming hunter in close quarters. It is just an disorienting to the oppontent as to the blinker, but the difference is the blinker can just keep spamming their invincibility-god-jump until locating the other guy, then keep spamming jump until they can hit them with a shotgun.

  • Stop complaning about every aspect of the game blink can be used without cooldown 2 times after that you have like 5 seconds of no double jump you have to be strategic of it people could say the same for titan bubles and fist of havoc when a titan uses FOH it negates blade dancer gunslinger and void bombs so i guess in your logic that makes titans broken. From what your saying if someone has their super or rockets the game should throw skill out the window and make it impossible for you to miss? No if someone is able to reconize that your about to fire a rocket or smash down and is quick enough to dodge they sould be able to survive stop whining like your five years old and realize that hey some people play different if you want to not worry about people doing stuff you dont like you live on the wrong planet please load your self in a rocket and leave earth

    • You should try blink out first to see how it isn't as great as you think. 1. The cooldown's not that quick. I've fallen off maps several times because blink wasn't ready to go when I needed it. 2. It's great in PvE when you need to do hard missions solo. I use it to get in or out of tough situations in nightfalls. 3. We don't know where we'll end up either. Upon blinking, we're just as clueless as you. 4. The titan super's AOE is so OP, I can't get out of it even by blinking. I've even been hit by a shoulder charge in the middle of a blink. Blink's still awesome but it's not as OP as you think.

          • Its not actually disorienting at all, until you blink over the top of someone. Even then when you blink close enough to someone you can not react to the blinker without like a 6 or high sense. If one blinks on me they either kill me from a mile away with felwinter's or I jet pack away.

          • I don't think that tearing down other classes is fair. People that use that class will have the best ability as to whether an ability is OP, well rounded, or flat out useless. I do think however that if we could get the Titans abilities to work properly we would be a lot happier. As it is now Strikers cannot use catapult as it is useless. It slowly pushes you along just a little higher than ground level. The way it should work is like the name suggests, it should launch you off the ground about 3-4 feet at a high speed and about 10 feet ahead, it should be a gap closer that when combined with SC is actually useful. Not to mention it could also be used to create space when someone is blinking to close towards you. As for Defenders their special needs to work as advertised, it is described as indestructible and it needs to be that way, even in PvP, the only thing that should be able to destroy it is killing the titan that popped it.

          • Just keep hitting your panic button that hits through floors, walls, and has an infinite funnel upwards titan. Don't get angry just because the other classes have a way to Dodge your bullshit shouldercharge.

            • Don't mind the "get good" comments, they are obviously scrubs who abuse it themselves and struggle to win matches anyway .Most of those players don't understand balance. Blink does need a distance nerf, and at least a bigger cooldown to draw your weapon after it. Imo that is all that it needs to be balanced that way as long as you got the range distance they can't just jump and snipe you with a rangefinder shotty.

you really need to use blink if this is your opinion. To be able to blink straight forward you need to be moving forward, jump then wait till you start to descend again or you just hit the roof and gain no distance. There is also a hit box where the player was before they blinked. The amount of time I have been killed because someone shot the after image is unreal
I believe that being able to dodge supers, rockets, and all forms of incoming damage doesn't work in competitive play
If they are dodging your supers then you need to get better at timing them, It's very difficult to evade a NB or FoH with blink. The easiest super to disorientate with blink is BD and that's it. I believe the saying in this situation is "git gud scrub", or something like that.

I agree the cool down is far too quick. You can cross huge distances with the 2 quick blinks that are provided, and on a hunter with QuickDraw you are in an even more powerful position. The ability to avoid all incoming damage for such a long distance while closing to your target is OP. I think that instead of a cool down after two quick blinks, put a cool down in between blinks and lower the cool down after the 2 blinks. Blink shotgun is pure OP right now... *cough* Felwinters.

              • When I use blink felwinter for the most part I'm uncontested, it doesn't need a BIG nerf but if there was ever competitive play for this game blink would most certainly be banned.

              • Its A Four Second Cool down Per Teleport, And All You Have To Do Is Go Straight Up To Confuse The Hell Out Of The Blinker. Plus, Blink Can Be Confusing To Use As Well, And Can Lead To Some Funny OMG WTF WHERE AM I Moments.

It's an extremely hard jump to master. More accidental deaths happen from blink than any other thing in the game. I applaud anyone who can master the timing to avoid supers and rockets.

Blink is my jump in Pve and PvP. I am trying to think of time beside being a sword bearer I don't use it and I can not. Blink is by far the most tactical jump in the game. Yet it is the only jump that even has a cool down time. There have been many times I have spent my blinks and died because of it. There have been countless times I have completely miscalculated my map position and blinked off the map to my doom. It is a hard jump to master. If it wasn't more people would it.

                    • I just recently got good with blink I like using it, very handy in a tight situation, the cool down is no different than the charge time for a Titan shoulder charge except this is a one hit kill

                    • You can only blink 2x in fairly short succession before you have to wait again. Bring your warlock into crucible and try it, while it's useful, I don't consider it overpowered or godly. You can be shot while blinking, a short time after your disappear and as soon as you reappear. The only time it's good for dodging damage is when your opponent doesn't keep track of you, if they fire as you blink the damage counts, especially with supers and rockets.
