This is the most poorly managed forum I have ever been a member of.

Do the mods even exist? If so what exactly are they doing? Lets go through the list of basic shit that runs rampant in the Destiny forums, that would not be tolerated on any other forum that's managed half as competently as it should be. - Topics posted in the wrong category, and never being moved to the right one even when reported. To prove it I'll be putting this in the wrong category. Why even try to organize the forum if you're not going to enforce the system's usage? - Large and/or rapidly growing amounts of general toxicity. While this can be an issue on any forum, a forum with competent moderation is quick to squash it before it can become a site-wide issue. - Ninja-deleting posts with no reason given, and no warnings given. This is one of the few things the mods actually seem to do, as far as I can tell that might be the only thing they do, and they don't even do it often or effectively. Again any forum with halfway competent moderation does not operate in this fashion as it does nothing to fix the underlying issue with the user causing the problem. - Repeatedly reposting something that was removed by a mod. This would be an automatic ban of at least 24 hours for a first offence on any forum with decent mods. - Lack of communication with the forum's community. This loops back to the ninja-deleting and why it does nothing to help, and it also loops back to people repeatedly reposting things that have been removed. If someone breaks a rule or violates the code of conduct, for a first offence it is better to issue a warning and explain what the person did wrong and not to do it again. Or if you can't be bothered to do that much at the very least link back to the code of conduct and/or rules page and tell them not to do it again. Ninja-deleting post/comments does nothing to garner any understanding by the OP as to why their post was deleted and they'll probably just post it again. - Ninja-bans (especially on a first offence). Come on. No. This is the most basic of basic shit. Ninja-bans are a terrible solution and do nothing to address the underlying issues with the user. - Dealing with spam. There isn't even an option to report a post or comment as spam. Scrolling through a half page comment of a centipede gets old quickly. The mods do nothing about it, and even if they would do something there's no way to let them know the post is spam. The list of problems with this forum could go on, that's just the basic shit that would not be tolerated on a well managed forum. If you need an example, go take a look at one of my favorite forums that I am a member of: The SCP Wiki forums. Read the code of conduct and the rules, they're not even that strict but they are strictly enforced by competent moderators. These are people who are a part of that site as a hobby, they do that for free and do a vastly superior job than the mods on this site. I don't know if the mods for the Destiny forums are getting paid, but I'm assuming they're Bungie employees so they are probably paid decently. All in all while I do enjoy some of the rational, reasonable, and interesting discussions I have on this forum, they are few and far between and it's getting worse, and the root cause is lazy and ineffective moderation.
