• I think people need to learn the difference between questionable business practices and a market crash.

    • No. But it is going to get a very interesting shift in the next few years. Most triple a titles will start to lose popularity if not die outright. Indies are going to gain popularity. It'll probably cycle itself this way. Small becomes big, big becomes great, great loses its popularity, great is replaced by new small.

    • Like Sailor Mars also said, I think that AAA games are going to majorly lose popularity soon. Mainly due to so many unfavorable practices.

      • Nope, but maybe AAA gaming will die out which wouldn't bother me in the slightest since I've most withdrawn out of AAA games with a few exception.

          • I don't think that it will collapse, but the introduction of virtual reality could cause it to change drastically as I am sure that will become the best way to have a real, engaging experience. I think that the consoles will need to catch up quickly to be able to handle it, but in all honesty I don't know much about the complexities of vr or the struggles of a developer

          • Hopefully And then it can be rebuilt into something better than just a cashgrab for game studios.

            • I think it's gone already. Gaming has become such a cash cow and now it's all about the visuals-instead of the gameplay. Back in the 90's you had the last of the great rivalries, Sega VS Nintendo, then Sony joined in. The three consoles had an epic battle for supremacy releasing great titles for all platforms. Unfortunately Sega had to call it quits, and The battle was fought to a draw between Sony and Nintendo. For me, gaming's greatest days were over once Microsoft joined the industry. Of course it's gunna be about money, it's a business, but back then, devs loved the games they made, and it showed. Now, every game feels the same. Fun for a week and a chore any time more. 15 years ago, I would have been able name multiple games that I loved to play regardless of how many times I had beaten it. I can't name one single game released since. It's sad really. But thankfully, I kept my classic consoles. So I can go back at any time and enjoy those old games whenever.

                  • Major video games will still be shit for the next few years, seeing as how high budget companies have major game Devs by the balls, and are very proficient at overhyping Triple A's. A great deal of consumers will purchase these, anyway, and as such, the Industry will continue to have money injected into it at a ludicrous rate. Community created games are where the heart and soul of Gaming is, nowadays. Minor titles attract less entitled brats, and better players in general, if you still want to have fun gaming, look there.

                    • There have been new and better games coming out. Dying Light, Destiny (open world with other players and fun multiplayer) and Titanfall (multiplayer). I think the time for games as a story type this is closing and gaming as games is starting to open.

                      • As long as I have my Elder Scrolls and Fallouts I could care less. If all else fails there's D&D and table top WarHammer 40K for me.

                      • We're hitting a lull, but I think that is more because AAA developers are having to choose between making games to work for all the platforms (pc, x1, ps4, ps3, 360) or just next gen and pc. So far the games that have come out solely for next gen have been quality titles, but it's tough because making a game for next gen only gives you about 35 million potential buyers, compared to the 140 million if you include ps3 and 360. Also the massive rise in F2P and mobile games with a ton of microtransactions has proved to be very successful which is just adding to the dilemma of where companies want to take their games. It also doesn't help that gamers expectations are getting higher and higher for new games.

                      • No. With the rise of indie developers, I don't see a crash being anywhere near to where we are now.
