1. Max out your crucible and vanguard marks (New gear might be a higher light level then current raid gear)
2. Get close to leveling up with all of the factions so you can get fresh packages when the dlc hits
3. Just before the expansion hits, fill up your bounty slots with completed 5,000 xp bounties (To instantly level up the new armor you bought/got from the packages)
4. Maybe save up IB medallions
5. Save up glimmer/upgrade materials

As I recall, the vanguard and crucible armors you get when HOW comes out will not be better than crota armors. Weapons are a different story.
-
They may change the whole system to make these preemptive measures useless. They could have something like a new faction that you have to do bounties for to rank up to spend a new currency to get an item that let's you trade for the new gear. At any rate. The new tower gear should top out at 36 light. I remember reading something from a bungie employee that they wouldn't make the new tower gear better than the last expansions raid. So weapons are the way to go. They should start at 300 attack and go up to 365.

When even is H.O.W release date ?
-
Don't save engrams it's a waste but save all axiomatic beads, silken codex etc...
-
Or I could just not prep and go with the flow... otherwise I'll get all the loot and be bored.
-
Fact: Engrams are pre loaded, and will not give gear from house of wolves when saved, Rumor: Faction packages, if saved, may give you legendary engrams. I do not know if these engrams will give HoW gear.

1. in the last few days before dlc 2. tick 3. in the last few days before dlc 4. tick 5. tick Might I suggest some more: 6. Save the upgrade reward packages. You can then open these after the dlc for new weapons and armor. 7. Complete each stage of an exotic bounty but don't actually collect the weapon. When collected after the dlc these will become the new upgraded version. (Yes I can confirm this worked with the last dlc release. I have many friends that waited 2-3 days and are now very grateful). Lets face it folks is there much in the way of dlc weapons you actually want as a "reward". Once you raid the armor is just more shards.
-
I haven't started yet but am now. I'm gonna stock exotic engrams from xur and a few legds as well. I have every exotic weapon so I'm not worried about missing something. For those who say it won't roll new stuff. Please provide proof of your claim. I don't see why it wouldn't roll new things as they rng when u turn them in not when u pick them up.
-
Can't you just save all your packages and not open them until how drops?
-
I don't think that's going to be a good idea what I've heard the next Vanguard armor updates will not increase light level the only way to get higher level gear is by doing the raids but hey I could be wrong.
-
Don't save up engrams at all. It was said before Dark Below released that you wouldn't get any DLC armour/weapons as engrams are already pre-rolled when you pick it up, so there is no point. They did this on purpose so people don't get the gear 'just like that'.
-
I get the feeling that vanguard gear will only take you to lvl 32. Bunjie said they made a mistake making raid gear useless after last DLC. So I would say the best way to prepare is to get to lvl 32 so you can start raiding for gear soon after release.
-
No one prepares for raids in destiny, all you need is a cheese grater and some bread.
-
Its too far away. ill do this the week before the dlc hits
-
Saving up engrams doesn't work, they would decode in TDB gear
-
when does house of wolves come out
-
Edited by Fwefwe5: 3/8/2015 1:51:29 PMI personally don't see why you would want to prepare so much. I get you want the best gear but if you get that gear too quick youre gonna get bored just as quick. That is why I don't make 3 of the same character to get raid gear.
-
Also save packages
-
You forgot to add save motes of light for Xur when house of wolves hits when Xur has engrams.
-
Any engrams pre-patch for the new DLC will decode into old engrams. Also, if you have 32 gear from CE then Vanguard won't help you in that regard.
-
Should maybe mention 4 is only useful if you save enough to level the cryptarch a full level. Otherwise one blue is enough to tip him over for your first level.
-
Vendor will only match CE raid sooo....yeah.
-
Excluding number 4, this is actually a really good way to make sure you get your gear quick and get ready to tackle HoW with everything you got!
-
Number 4 won't work with anytype of engrams including exotic as what's in it is pre determined. But otherwise those look preety nice. No rush there's still a bit till HoW
-
The engrams won't work it will be registered with ore dlc items
-
Save the consumable materials that give 200 glimmer each it will be expensive for all those upgrades hehe
