Maybe I haven't been looking for them but there seem to be an abundance of good co-op gaming options available right now.
Say what you will of Destiny, but it's fun to play with friends and you can do the whole campaign in co-op.
Just scooped up Dying Light and, what do you know, you can do the whole campaign there as well. On top of that you can even give people gear. A friend gave me some kind of blade with 1600+ attack vs the 24 attack pipe I was sporting.
I haven't even gotten a chance to try it yet, but the co-op in Far Cry 4 looks fun (watched videos of people goofing off).
It caught a lot of flack (rightly so) for being broken at release but the AC: Unity co-op is awesome. It's lots of fun watching your buddy dive off a roofs or running to his rescue when he gets caught and overwhelmed.
I did a little bit of PvP and Jolly Cooperation in Darksouls. I know there was some way to co-op with friends somehow (that didn't exist in menus). While random co-op is cool and suppose to be a part of the experience, I wouldn't mind a way to dungeon crawl with a friend in Bloodbourne.
What else is out there I'm missing?
Edit: Games I'm missing
Diablo 3
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
Borderlands 2 / The Presequel
Super Smash Bros
Helldivers
Resident Evil 2 Revelations (has split screen)
-
Portal 2 was probably my favourite co-op experience
-
Zombie army trilogy
-
Helldivers is landing just tomorrow! Yeah, yeah... It's not triple A material, I know. But I think it's got that special awesomesauce feel to it!
-
Diablo 3 is the best couch co-op game out on current gen IMO.
-
I hate how almost none of those are local.
-
Borderlands 2 and TPS
-
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. What's better than teaming up with 3 buddies to hunt a dragon?
-
Evolve. As far as teamwork goes it's a necessity. You can't lone wolf it (unless you're the monster) and you need to play you're role.
