Can we be different?

I have read this a while back from another destiny player. He said "how cool would it be to dismantle a legendary armor piece like the raid gear and as a drop from it, it gives you a upgrade pack" I thought it was stupid but then he Continued with "and it has all the same stats and perks of that piece of raid gear and the same light level but you then can equip it onto say your favorite piece of armor so it can bring you to the same light level and be different from the others" and by that he means say you dismantle the "unyielding casque" and it gives you this upgrade pack containing the same perks, stats and light level you then use it on the uncommon "Komarov 3.1.4"(because that's my favorite helmet when I was below level 20) and it turns it to a legendary helmet with the same stats, perks, and light level. Unyielding casque or any other legendary raid gear or exotic + dismantle = upgrade pack + using it on Komarov or any other helmet = legendary helmet different from other players. This could also be done with different other Armor pieces. So I just wanted to know could this be possible so every guardian in this game can be different from each other? Is this possible? Please reply with a answer bungies people I don't like looking like every other level 32. Edit1: hey guys can we get this up so bungie and eye it. I mean this is a good idea and I believe I should at least now that bungie saw it. If you can bump it and give it a like so bungie can read it! Thanks for y'all support! Edit2: hey guys and girls, ghosts, I'm here again to see if we can get this spread around like a virus so everyone will talk about it a eventually lead up to bungie personals talking about it. I also wanna try doing that voting option to see how many people would like that as a change but I'm not educated enough with this to do so. Can you guys help and spread it around like wild fire?

    • What your describing is called a transmog system and people have been clamoring for that basically since VoG dropped and they realized the only way to be at max light level was to wear one particular set of gear.

    • DeeJ has said that transmogs are a known wish but has also said that nobody at Bungie has any idea whatsoever as to how they're going to do that even though Bungie did it fine with Reach and also programming is hard and we're playing the game wrong if we want transmogs.

      • Bump. But i think exotics should be excluded. They are supposed to be unique in both perks and appearance. But in general there is no reason why the hell this isnt already a feature.

      • An easier solution would be a 'Vanity' slot on armor gear (a sub-slot) that allows you to have the stats of whatever gear is in the main slot, while having the skin model of the 'vanity' slot. The 'Vanity slots would be disabled in the Crucible (so opponents know what kind of gear they are facing to keep it fair and balanced, not "How could you have survived ____??? This game is bugged and stupid!!!") I would also love little vanity tokens we could get, possibly through random drops from enemies, located like the Dead Ghosts, etc. Like the 8-ball or other appearance tokens from the live trailer. A kill counter tag skin on my shoulder would be awesome! A pair of fuzzy dice on my heavy weapon? Dumb, but fun! An old world walkman to hook on my belt? Yes please! I would even be ok with some of this being available as DLC on the PSN (so long as the prices are reasonable) if I could make my Titan, Hunter, and Warlock unique and original-looking at high level.

        • Back before Sony Online Entertainment shut it down, Star Wars Galaxies had two armor systems: the gear you wore for stats, and the gear you wore for looks. If you had a piece of gear in your Appearance category, if would be displayed instead of your actual gear. If you liked the look of, say, your chest armor, you just left the chest slot in the Appearance armor empty and you'd see your stats-chestpiece. It'd be a simple way to get some mileage out of junk gear. I really like the way some of the early-level Warlock gear looks.

            • I wish something like that could happen but Bungie has shown they can not even implement what try already have without breaking it or making it glitchy as balls. If they remove the light lvl up system it would solve so many problems for this game.

            • Why not just have a guardian's light be a property of the guardian (and not the armor). Have level broken down by slot. When you get a piece of armor for a given slot (helmet, gauntlets, chest, boots) with a higher light level the slot level, then the slot level and guardian's light total goes up. But changing armor not decrease this light level. This would allow the guardian to change armor without dropping levels.

            • Transmogrification... Like Diablo. Once you find a piece of armor, you essentially unlock the "model" and then any piece of armor you have, you could take to the gunsmith or either quartermaster and have them transmog your favorite armor to look like whatever you want. Retaining all the stats and perks of the armor you are changing the appearance of.

            • I would love customizing the appearance of my armor, and building a custom look and style. I really miss all my pointy things from the original set of Vanguard arms. It went PERFECTLY with the VoG boots.

              • This unique snowflake is looking less like an ethereal guardian and more like a dirty snowball, all scruffy and dirty, after being dragged through Crota's rear-end… yet somehow shining with level 32 Light! The gear we use should reflect our choices, not simply some faceless designers behind the Bungie curtain. Why can't I weave my favorite gear with enough Light to face Crota? Why do we need to look like homeless shopping-cart pushing refugees? I've been writing about how we can re-forge. transmogrify, or generally upgrade existing gear under the Light + Impact ladder Bungie gives us. Gunsmith Banshee : career opportunities as Blacksmithy

              • Interesting concept. It would be nice to have a choice in what we look like. I'm honestly not a fan of the appearance of some of the raid armor. Lol
