Exotics that should have an element

Yes. I agree

No. That's pointless.

Please, read before voting. I've highlighted the weapons and elements I've suggested for them. I can't be the only who thinks that there are some exotics that are missing their element. Either it's the gun's looks or just the projectiles it fires, some exotic guns we use just SCREAM to have an element on them but to a surprise, they completely lack one. Hard Light is the first that comes into my mind. The gun fires bright blue ionized polymer projectiles that simply look like they would do arc damage but instead do kinetic damage. To me this makes little to no sense. Every time I see the gun I think it should do arc damage but then see the kinetic damage and wonder why that was picked for this gun in the first place. Bad Juju is another one. I heard that it used to have the void element in the beta although I have no information on why it was removed. The gun is currently a bit lacking in terms of firepower. The recent pulse rifle buff has served this gun well but its damage is not as good as you'd hope to have with an exotic in PvE. Now these last 2 are debatable. Universal Remote and Monte Carlo. I'll start off by saying that I do not have Monte as I play on XOne but what I've heard, it's not as good as one would want it to be. So I believe that just like Hard Light, this weapon could make great use of an arc element that is also fitting to its style. Now Universal Remote. This is a tough one. It's a shotgun, a powerful one for sure but what makes it not so good is the fact that it's placed in the primary slot. This severely limits player option in terms of engagement distances and versatility. On this weapon I think solar would do fine. It's not the best against all enemies but it would give this gun a fighting chance and a little bit of grip in the competition. It takes up an exotic slot after all - and currently - it's not worth it. If there are other weapons I've missed, tell it in the comments. Now, what do you guys think about this change? Would it balance out the exotic weapons a little and give more incentive to use the previously lesser ones? Or would it unbalance the game and make these weapons somehow op? EDIT: Also highly suggested. Thorn Void. This is a decent suggestion. A possibility for sure. Although I see that it would be unlikely as this weapon is already very powerful. But as long as it's kept balanced I see no problem with this. Red Death Solar. I personally see this gun as an infantry rifle. It also seems like it would fire regular metal bullets. The gun would require some drastic changes to make the solar damage or any other element fitting. Suros Regime Arc. This weapon is described as a relic - an old master piece. So like red death I would categorize this weapon as a basic-ish bread and butter rifle that's good at everything but doesn't excel. MIDA All. Would fit the description but a little op? I've used this gun a lot, it's already versatile and deadly as is. I do not think an element would fit it's style at all. No Land Beyond Any? Now, this gun. Oh my. It sucks. It's old, clumsy and low-power. Any element on a gun like this would feel out of place - a lot. The Last Word Solar. I guess this could do. But it would have to be somehow special. Maybe a separate upgrade or a quest. The weapon is a masterpiece of craftmanship and a stylished western revolver after all, so it could be harder to make it look and feel right.

  • Bump. This will make exotic primaries relevant again as there's little reason to use them in pve when I can use a raid weapon

  • The only one I agree with is the Hard Light, simply because it's exotic perk is 100% situational. If anyone does not know, the Hard Light's perk allows it to pass once through a Defender's shield, making it awesome in PvP against Defenders, but that is about it. If Arc was added, then it would be much more useful in PvE as opposed to just being that rare exotic with no bounty, and the one of now two guns Xur has never sold... Everything else, I think, is overkill PRIMARILY because the other exotic perks make up the difference. Thorn's DoT damage, TLW's insanely awseome RoF and hip accuracy, Bad JuJu's never again reload and 'Oh yeah, here is your super AGAIN!" (xD), the Regimes all around beastiness (best impact and range of any AR), and the Red Death's extremely beneficial auto-regen on kill (makes CE on hard so much easier).

  • I will be taking these ideas into the feedback side if the devs would happen to notice this. Giving some of these guns an element would make them more viable. They're exotics after all. Right now all legendary raid weapons are more preferable. And auto rifles need a buff. Especially high rof - low damage

    • Juju and Thorn - New Elemental; Poison - Green Colour. Something like that anyway. Also your suggestions I agree about Hard Light 100%. And NLB and UR should get an element due to being secondary, primaries.

    • Yeah, it sucks that most players only use raidweapons as a primary. In Nightfalls with Burns all those exotics are sitting in the vault. It's a shame that the best weapons aren't used in any high level encounter.

      • Not every exotic should have a element. Like in the case of no land beyond, a element would just ruin it. But like thorn, it should be void. Why else do you need to get 500 kills with void weapons? Universal Remote is good as it is. It hits hard and giving it a burn, makes it that you only use it in some situation. For example solar burn on wizards and shanks. But most of all there is Mida MULTI Tool. This one shouldnt get a burn. No, its perk should be upgraded. It is called multi tool, but it isnt a tool you can use more multible situations. Its should get a perk that changes the element against shielded enemy's. So if you shoot wizards for example, the element changes too solar too get the shields down faster. After the shield is down, the element switches back too kinect. That makes it a multi tool.

      • this is a good post. i have both hard light and universal remote, and it is kind of a letdown to have an exotic PRIMARY with no element. these guns are cool, but i cant use them in important things, like weekly and nightfall, because of burns: i am forced to use other exotic heavies and specials.

      • No land beyond should have all 3 elemental at once, and there should be a permanent burn if you had that weapon equipped. Then i would actually use it...... Maybe

I don't want burns on Suros Monte Carlo because their kinetic damage makes me feel like I'm playing BF

      • Thanks a lot for your comments. Keep this thread alive. There are underwhelming guns like Hard light that need some proper dev care. So hopefully they'll notice this dilemma, take a note and spread some love.

        • All exotics should have elemental damage. And what's worse is that secondaries that are equipped as primary's (NLB, universal remote) don't have elemental damage. WTF bungie? Having a secondary take up a primary slot is already extremely pointless, but you don't even give them elemental damage to make them at least somewhat practical to use as a primary? Really wish the ones who develop this game actually played it like we do. Now imagine if the exotic armor we have had specific elemental resistance, how great would that be? So for example you are using voidfang and it has resistance to solar damage, that would mean any solar damage you take will be slightly lessoned. Could you imagine the world of possibilities that would open up if we also had to consider what type of exotic armor we used based on what enemies we are most likely to go up against? Or how that would alter the way we play PvP? Come on bungie, why can't you guys figure this stuff out?

I will update the list now before I fall asleep. I'll add weapons that you suggested BUT ALSO give my own opinion on the guns, what should receive element and what should not.

I want void/arc. Maybe just void Either way, some exotic weapon primaries should have an elemental association
