Fight nice!*

*Repost in the correct forum, updated... Hello Guardians!, I have spent a lot of time playing Destiny. Like you, I've cleared bounty after bounty, gotten destroyed in Iron Banner, dropped Atheon, downed Crota (cheese wit, and witout [Philly sic]), and have laughed through the pain after my vanguard level-up yielded a shard and a commendation for the 5th time in a row. I've Nightfalled (Nightfallen?), struck heroically, sometimes daily, but always weekly, and once upon a time, did the Queen's bidding! You see, before Destiny, I was pretty much totally new to the mmo genre. The closest I'd come to it was monster hunter tri on the Wii. After hundreds of hours of gameplay, the Wii became obsolete, and with what felt like zero warning, my addiction to gearing-, leveling-, and teaming-up was woefully neglected. Over a couple of years, nothing on 360 satisfied the itch. Tweaking. Sweating. Convulsing. Loss. Grief. Denial. Anger. Acceptance. Renewal. Enter Destiny. Confession. I LOVE this game. I sign on daily, and binge on weekends. Yet, I struggle to understand why this happens to be the most polarizing game I can recall in my 25+ years of gaming. I've found the fans and detractors of this game incredibly knowledgeable, but the malcontents just insufferable! The irony of reading posts about Bungie's lack of transparency on a forum created by Bungie, on which Bungie actively engages, and through which tangible changes to the game have been made, is confounding. This is the first and only game I've played where the developers say they'll allow consumers to have a voice in dictating game function and layout, and actually DO! Ya can't get much more transparent than holding an open house event! The side of the community that loves this game are the level 32s that welcome the 31s. They share. They build up. They suggest. The other side complains, harasses, detracts.... I'm not sure if it's a generational thing, or if it's simply a passionate cry out over some perceived missed potential, but the sense of entitlement is maddening. Feeling like you've not gotten your money's worth is one thing. But abusing and threatening developers because you still don't have Gjallarhorn is pathological. At times, this game does still feel like a beta. And yet, I find it refreshing that it's still evolving. I'm hopeful that there's a plan for some big payoff in future iterations of this game and its sequels/prequels. But most importantly, I hope that we don't scare Bungie off from allowing us to have a voice in the direction of this franchise! Clearly, I drank the Kool-aide. If it turns out that the hype doesn't quite justify the finished product (strike that, reverse it...), I'll still have played a pretty cool game, and the sun will still come up the next day. And the world keeps on spinnin'....
