Calling all Swordbearers

You guys ever get slightly annoyed when 5 people blame you for not killing the swordbearer fast enough? Then when u get up top to crota he doesn't hit a knee. I mean CMON other 5 guys. I shoot 2 rockets at a minimum at every swordbearer, what the -blam!- are they doing back there?!?!? Am I alone here or what? Edit 1: This is for hard mode mostly. Normal is cake cause I use my gjally to roast him but on hard I use red death/hoc to stay alive. Edit 2: Thanks for all the responses fellow swordbearers. Any non sword bearers reading this: 1 - Don't die, 2 - Down swordbearer fast with sniper/rockets, 3 - Down crota by shooting 1 rocket and firing primary for extra down time. 4 - Don't wait, go where u need to be after 2nd down. 5 - Don't die. 6 - Listen to your swordbearer. 7 - If I don't die running around getting the sword and what not, u have no excuse sitting up on your ledge, don't die. Lastly give your swordbearer some love because obviously he/she is doing a job you either cannot do or don't want to. Edit 4: Thanks again for all the tips and comments fellow Swordbearers! Let's keep owning that bitch crota since no else wants to haha. Nothing as good as getting that last hit in to finish him off, am I right?!?

  • On hard, I'm a back up swordbearer. In other words, I know what I'm doing, but I'm not like some people that have it down perfectly and can generally get four hits per run. On normal, I'll run sword on every class if need be, but then any 32 can be effective with the sword on normal. Number one rule for any hard raid, DON"T DIE. Other rules for Crota fight. 1. Take swordbearer down fast, if you get five guys that headshot him with a sniper he goes down fast. 9 times out of ten he comes out and heads right, be prepared, don't shoot till he moves to one side or the other. 2. when swordbearer is down, toss grenades at sword to clear away thralls for your swordbearer 3. Make sure you have a plan in place for boomers, could be a sniper to stagger, a titan to place a bubble and distract them. 4. Make sure you do rocket checks so you know who has them and who doesn't. 5. Once you down him the last time, whether you go for only two or get 3 downs in, move, shift on the ledge, try to avoid going inside lest you need an orb or a Heavy pack. 6. After first run, make sure someone tries and shoots the boomers on the side that the swordbearer is going, just enough times for them to get to safety. 7. Anyone on the inside after a run on crota should be shooting the middle plain of the glass, this often draw's the swordbearer closer, often down to just below the ledge, or hiding behind one of the pillars right in front of the ledge, this makes for a super easy kill. 8. Once first ogre is clear, have a titan drop a ward at the back with blessing of light on it, that way you can engage the second ogre with an overshield and make a run for inside with one as well. 9. Once past ogres everyone should use a synth unless they have at least 4 rockets, come out and down swordbearer with rockets and then use two per down. 10. When he enrages thralls spawn on the inside and can hit you through the glass, if you start taking damage, drop off the ledge. 11. Never shoot rockets for first down before swordbearer calls for it, when they call for it they should see five rockets hitting crota a second later. Try to always follow those rockets with primary just to make sure he goes down. 12. For second down, as soon as he stands up, have someone count 1..2..3, fire!
