DISCLAIMER: This is an IDEA; This is not "official" I just want to see what you all think. TL;DR
STAHP BEING LAZY AND ACTUALLY READ IT! :P
Let's say that Bungie decides to continue using the light leveling system that is attached to armor. Having a different level for PvP and PvE would be a creative new feature for the game; Don't blow a fuse now exobots! Let me explain. Three things i will talk about regarding the leveling systems: Leveling up in PvP, Leveling up in PvE, and the benefits this brings. Leveling up in PvE: It is pretty self evident that this is the main feature of Destiny; at least until you get bored and decide to PvP... Strikes, Bounties, Missions, and Raids! These are all examples of what makes Destiny's PvE SOO much fun... The current method is simple: Do story missions and find EXP until you max at level 20. Beyond that you need to find gear to increase your "Light" level. Leveling up this way may be fine, but there are a few things i would change. The base level from 20 to 30. and the manor in which you unlock new weapons. From levels 1-10 you use common weapons, from levels 10-15 you use uncommon weapons, from levels 15 - 25 you use rare weapons, from 25-30 you use Legendary weapons, and at level 30 Exotic Weapons are unlocked. Weapons can be bought from the gunsmith (no stock refresh/only for bonuses/perks).The only things you would need is to meet the requirement and have enough glimmer/resource/etc... This would also work with armor! Same Mechanism just have them for armor instead of weapons. Add an armorsmith to the tower and have it sell armor up to rare (legendaries can be bought from vendors). After level 30, you will be able to infuse light into your armor to increase your "light" level. This means you can use ANY armor, and not stuck to just the raid gear... Motes of Light will be used to infuse your armor. To obtain +30 Light you need 30 Motes of Light. The speaker will be able to infuse the Motes of Light into your armor for you. Leveling up in PvP: This is creative, as currently, there is no separate levels for the Crucible. The purpose for this is seamless transition. However i find it odd how you have to obtain level 20 prior to using Legendary weapons, not everyone plays with legendary weapons, but they usually hold better stats and perks. for a true seamless transition, allow players to use any weapon they have no matter their PvP level. If they managed to get that weapon in PvE, they can use it in PvP. There is no "light" levels in the Crucible. It would go from 1-100, unlocking weapons and gear to use in PvE and PvP. You level up by earning EXP from killing enemies and completing matches. Bounties can unlock bonuses like 2x EXP or 2x Glimmer as well as good old fashioned EXP. This way players will be able to see other player's level of experience (not skill) in the Crucible. V - Open for placement info - V
Light level is displayed on the right side of the player tag, underneath it is the grimiore score (check if you dont believe me), Now imagine to the left of your grimiore score (size is exactly half of light text size) a pair of crossed swords with a number next to it; that number would be your PvP Level; This is shown on PvE, However when you play PvP, it is the other way around, the PvP level is big, and the Light level is half.
Benefits: This is a safe way to add longevity to Destiny. Providing new things for players to do rather than raiding once a week and other lesser things. Seamless transition is even easier, (after all, the weapons are what matter). Players will be able to brag about more than just their grimiore. Having the leveling system in PvE will ensure that as the player levels up, they will be able to use the best gear at their level, so long as they purchase it. Having the gunsmith and armorsmith offer all the items at once without a restock allows (restock maybe to reroll perks and stats) players to plan out what they want, when they want it. This also means for legendary weapons sold by vendors. If you are low level in PvE but got lucky with a legendary weapon engram, don't fret, you can use it right away in the crucible. blah, blah, more stuff, blah, benefits, blah, you get the point... ACTUAL TL;DR
PvE: [Common: LVL 1-10] - [Uncommon: LVL 10-15] - Rare: LVL 15-25] - [Legendary: LVL 25-30] - [Exotic: LVL 30+] All weapons available for purchase from gunsmith (restocks all weapons different bonuses/perks). Level up armor past level 30 using Motes of Light (Ex: 30 Motes of Light get you +30 Light to a piece of armor); The Speaker can do this for you. PvP: Separate leveling system from 1-100. You gain EXP from killing enemies, completing bounties, and completing games. Weapons do not have level requirement to use in The Crucible, this allows an even more seamless transition between PvP & PvE. Benefits: It works better... nuff said.
Thanks for reading! Tell me what you think... and... Thumbs up this post. I love you (>' 3 ' )> lol, carry on guardians.
