Destiny: Vatonage Part 2 (Destiny Fanfiction)

Welcome to Part 2! If you haven't checked out Part 1, you can see it here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/103140937/0/0 Let me know what you think of Part 2. Enjoy! :) "I don't know if we can survive this time, " the Ghost looked over at his companion, kneeling on the ground as he looked up toward the massive wall before them. He was obviously in thought as he fiddled with the weapon at his side, a habit the Ghost had noticed over the past few weeks with the Guardian. "You sound so sure, Delphi," the Guardian's voice was authoratative, but also calm--like heat lightning, "Except for the encounter in the church, they haven't surprised us yet." "There's always exceptions to you, Guardian, and this will be one of them. We need to get to the other side of the wall, and then we can see what may be salvageable, " the Ghost, which the Guardian insisted on calling him Delphi, reprimanded him. Soon, the Fallen would be upon them, as they had been tracking them ever since they left...no. Don't think about it. It took an act of treason to release him from his sleep. Once they reached the City, maybe Delphi would be the one needing a reprimand, or maybe decommission. As they explored the wall for a possible entrance, a heart-piercing howl echoed across the endless graveyard of abandoned cars. The Fallen were near. "We need to move, Guardian! They will not send just three Fallen this time," Delphi was beginning to panic. The House of Wolves were never known to be careless. They've only made that mistake once. Delphi looked at his companion. Perhaps they will make one again. < 15 MINUTES LATER > Delphi focused on the door in front of him as a battle raged behind him. Although he couldn't turn around, he could hear Dregs' screams as the familiar sound of silver bullets whistled through the air. He could hear the Vandals' footsteps as they charged fearfully toward their deadly enemy. He could hear the Baron's cry of rage as he watched his forces disappearing one by one. But above all the noise of destruction, Delphi heard the Guardian, glowing with blue Light, as he darted around and sliced through his enemies with his blade. Before him, the metal garage door creaked and groaned as its locking mechanisms lazily reactivated. Delphi worked diligently and fiercely, but he was also annoyed, "In its dying breath, the Traveler created the Ghosts...to open doors." While he worked, two Skiffs are heard in the distance. "We don't have much more time," Delphi anxiously said. As soon as he did though, the door's ancient locks began to grind the dust out of it and cooperate. The door opened. "Guardian! We are out of here!" Delphi notified his companion nearby as the Baron he was contending with dropped with a dagger impaled in its head. How symbolic. Quickly, the Guardian and Delphi dashed through the door as the Skiffs outside dropped off more Fallen. Delphi activated the door's locks again, and it happily complied. It closed slowly, trapping the darkness inside along with its visitors. Delphi floated in place and cast a soft illumination, the only light in this sea of darkness, "C'mon, Guardian. The Cosmodrome is this way, and. hopefully, so is our way to the City." Delphi started floating toward the flight of stairs leading deeper into the wall. However, he realized that the Guardian was still behind him, standing and fiddling with his weapon. The Ghost, confused, wondered toward him, illuminating his dark face: "Guardian?" He looked up. "Oh, Delphi. Even you have a name," the Guardian took off his helmet, revealing his Exo face, "I would like it if you used mine." Delphi, slightly worried now, asked calmly, "And what name would that be?" He thought back to where he found the Guardian: the Prison of Elders. The Exo cast a shadow of a smile on his burned face, "Banshee. My name is Banshee-43." And with that, Delphi and Banshee silently entered the darkness before them, never once considering how in the world they were to get out again. • Well, didn't see that coming. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. Writing-wise, the main thing that jumps out at me here is that my impression of Ghosts has them speaking a bit more formally; "C'mon, Guardian. The Cosmodrome is this way, and, hopefully, so is our way to the City." would be "Come on, Guardian. The Cosmodrome is this way. With any luck, we'll find a way to the City there." But that's just my own impression, and as the author you have creative license. One thing really confuses me, though. The Prison of Elders is in the Reef, yet the context of the story as-is suggests that the Guardian was revived on Earth. Is that a mistake, or intentional?
